The role

We are hiring a Mechanical Engineering Review Specialist to evaluate written content and AI-generated responses for technical accuracy and usefulness in mechanical engineering contexts.

This is a remote, part-time contractor engagement best suited to licensed US mechanical engineers who can commit about 10 hours per week and provide clear, practice-grounded feedback.

What you'll do

Your primary responsibility is to review AI-generated answers and written content for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with real-world engineering practice. You will judge technical correctness, point out errors or risky recommendations, and suggest improvements.

• Evaluate and rate AI-generated responses for mechanical engineering topics.
• Answer domain-specific technical questions with clear, well-reasoned explanations.
• Cite or recommend relevant reference materials, codes, and standards.
• Share practical insight into tools, workflows, and engineering standards used day-to-day.
• Collaborate with a small group of subject-matter experts to ensure consistent, high-quality feedback.

Requirements

You must meet these essential qualifications exactly as stated below; we do not alter core requirements for this role.

• Degree-qualified mechanical engineer with an active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States.
• 2+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience (examples: thermodynamics, HVAC, structural/mechanical design, or manufacturing).
• Familiarity with relevant codes and standards such as ASME.
• Practical experience with engineering tools such as SolidWorks, ANSYS, or AutoCAD.
• Strong written communication and the ability to provide clear, technical feedback.
• Professional working English and reliable availability for about 10 hours per week.

Helpful background & who should apply

This role is ideal for licensed mechanical engineers who enjoy teaching, technical review, and improving AI systems. Experience producing technical documentation, specifications, or training materials is a plus.

Comfort using everyday AI tools (for example, ChatGPT or similar assistants) is helpful but not required; we mainly need your engineering judgment and clear writing.

• Good fit: PE-licensed engineers who want flexible, part-time consulting-style work.
• Not required: prior annotation experience—domain expertise and strong writing are the core needs.
