The work

You will create realistic mechanical engineering problems and scenarios, then assess AI-generated technical content. Your reviews will focus on whether the work is accurate, practical, manufacturable, defensible, and consistent with engineering standards.

You will provide clear written feedback that identifies errors and helps improve how AI systems reason about mechanical engineering work.

  • Create expert-level problems based on manufactured, tested, or approved parts, assemblies, and analyses.
  • Review AI responses for technical accuracy, manufacturability, practical feasibility, and alignment with engineering practice.
  • Check models, drawings, tolerances, calculations, and finite element analysis results for correctness and defensibility.
  • Decide whether technical work is clear and robust enough for another reviewer to use for dimensioning.
  • Explain complex mechanical engineering concepts clearly in structured written feedback.

What it pays and takes

This is flexible, part-time contract work that can be completed remotely alongside current employment or studies. The role is listed at 20+ hours per week, with no set schedule.

Applicants should be able to work independently in a remote, asynchronous setting and have practical experience producing engineering work that was manufactured, tested, or approved.

  • Pay: $100 per hour.
  • Work type: Part-time contract work with flexible scheduling.
  • Location: Open to candidates based in the United States.
  • Language: Fluent in English.
  • Education: A BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
  • Experience: Hands-on mechanical engineering experience or engineering study that led to manufactured, tested, or approved work.
  • Technical depth in at least one of these areas: parametric solid modeling built to tolerance, GD&T drawing interpretation, standards-based calculations, or FEA validated against hand calculations.
  • Strong written communication, attention to detail, and the ability to explain complex technical ideas clearly.

Helpful experience

Experience with engineering software or manufacturing-ready design can support success in this role. Background in industry or advanced mechanical engineering studies is also useful.

  • SolidWorks, Creo, NX, CATIA, Inventor, Fusion 360, ANSYS, Abaqus, Nastran, MATLAB, or comparable tools.
  • Manufacturing-ready drawings or models for machining, sheet metal, casting, injection molding, or additive manufacturing.
  • Experience with a manufacturer, product design firm, aerospace or defense contractor, automotive supplier, or advanced mechanical engineering studies.
