About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. People create examples, review model responses, validate information, and explain reasoning so modern language models can produce more accurate and useful results.

This role focuses on mathematical reasoning for large language models. It offers remote, part-time contract work at the intersection of mathematics, research, writing, and cutting-edge AI development.

  • Remote work with flexible scheduling
  • Part-time contractor opportunity requiring 20 or more hours per week
  • Work directly on content used to improve language model performance
  • Entry-level opportunity for candidates with strong mathematical ability

The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting a Math LLM Training Analyst to create and evaluate mathematical reasoning content for large language models. You will work with analytical questions, logic puzzles, quantitative scenarios, and written explanations.

The work combines mathematical analysis, online research, claim validation, and clear communication. You will help identify correct answers, articulate the reasoning behind them, and improve the quality of model responses through carefully prepared training and evaluation content.

  • Role type: Part-time contractor
  • Experience level: Entry level
  • Time requirement: 20 or more hours per week
  • Language: English
  • Work location: Worldwide and remote
  • Data focus: Text generation and evaluation or rating

What You’ll Do

You will analyze mathematical and analytical questions and turn your reasoning into accurate, understandable content. Some assignments may involve creating new examples, while others may require reviewing claims or evaluating how clearly a solution explains each step.

The work may cover algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, data interpretation, trends, variability, sequencing, and constrained problem solving. You may also research information online and use mathematical computation or online collaboration tools.

  • Analyze questions across algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus
  • Create scenarios and examples for language model training
  • Research information online and validate claims in written content
  • Break complex material into smaller logical blocks
  • Explain solutions in clear, sequential steps
  • Evaluate problems involving data interpretation, trends, variability, and sequencing
  • Assess constrained problem-solving questions and model-generated responses

Requirements

You should be able to solve mathematical and logic problems systematically and creatively, then communicate your reasoning clearly in writing and conversation. Strong English comprehension is essential for understanding analytical content and producing precise explanations.

The role requires reliable computer equipment, internet access, and the ability to work with online collaboration and mathematical computation tools.

  • High school or college-level proficiency in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus
  • Strong English reading, writing, and comprehension skills
  • Systematic and creative problem-solving ability
  • Ability to explain complex mathematical reasoning clearly and step by step
  • Strong analytical judgment
  • Reliable computer equipment and internet access
  • Ability to use online collaboration and mathematical computation tools

Helpful Background

A bachelor’s degree in mathematics, engineering, physics, or a related field is helpful, but demonstrated exceptional mathematical ability may also be considered. Experience tutoring or teaching mathematics can be valuable, especially at the high school, engineering entrance examination, or engineering college level.

Familiarity with standardized test formats, LaTeX, or Google Colab is beneficial but is not listed as a required qualification.

Who Should Apply

This opportunity is a strong fit for mathematically capable writers, tutors, teachers, students, and analytical problem solvers who want to contribute to AI development. You do not need a traditional AI background if you can reason accurately, verify claims, and explain solutions in a way that others can follow.

The role may suit candidates seeking flexible, remote work that uses mathematics and communication skills while building experience in AI training and data labeling.
