AI training is the human side of building modern artificial intelligence. People prepare and review examples that help computer vision systems understand images and video, making this work a direct contribution to how cutting-edge AI is built.
The Role
OpenTrain is seeking experienced visual data labeling professionals for a long-term, ongoing project focused on computer vision image and video datasets. You will produce accurate, consistent annotations that support machine learning model development.
This contractor, part-time opportunity pays $14 USD per hour. The project calls for a commitment of approximately 15 to 20 hours per week per person, with structured task deadlines and flexibility to set your own working hours.
Work location: USA or Canada
Pay: $14 USD per hour
Work type: Part-time contractor
Project duration: Long-term and ongoing
Schedule: Flexible hours, provided assigned tasks are completed on time
What You'll Do
You will annotate visual datasets using a range of image and video labeling techniques. Assignments may vary by dataset and can include identifying objects, classifying content, and marking precise shapes or locations.
Create bounding box annotations
Perform image and video classification
Draw polygon annotations around relevant objects or regions
Complete object detection labeling
Apply cuboid annotations where required
Mark points and keypoints
Maintain accurate, consistent labels across assigned datasets
Complete tasks on time and communicate about project work as needed
Requirements
This role is intended for professionals with substantial hands-on experience in image and video annotation. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a proven history of producing high-quality computer vision labels rather than relying primarily on text-based data labeling experience.
You should be comfortable working independently, managing your time across a long-term project, and maintaining reliable performance. Strong communication skills are also required for collaboration and reporting.
At least 2 to 3 years of hands-on data labeling experience
Proven experience annotating image and video datasets for machine learning
Experience with bounding boxes, classification, polygon annotations, and related visual labeling tasks
Familiarity with annotation tools such as Labelbox, CVAT, VGG Image Annotator, or similar platforms
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Demonstrated reliability and consistent, high-quality output
Strong communication skills
Location in the USA or Canada
Availability to commit approximately 15 to 20 hours per week
Ability to propose a competitive rate for ongoing work
Who Should Apply
This opportunity is a strong fit for experienced data labeling freelancers, computer vision annotation specialists, and contractors seeking steady, consistent remote work. Your application should highlight specific image and video annotation projects and the labeling methods you used.
During the interview, be prepared to discuss your experience with online data labeling platforms and the kinds of image or video annotation projects you have completed. Text-based labeling experience alone is not the focus of this role.
Experienced visual data labelers seeking ongoing work
Applicants who can describe specific image and video datasets they have labeled
Professionals able to sustain accurate work over a long-term engagement
Why Work in AI Training
Visual annotation is a key part of teaching AI systems to recognize and interpret the world. By labeling objects, regions, and movements in images and video, contributors help create the examples machine learning models need to improve.
AI training work is remote and often flexible, allowing contributors to fit projects around other responsibilities. It also offers a way for experienced specialists to work directly on the development of modern AI systems.
How to Apply
Create a free profile on OpenTrain, present your computer vision data labeling experience, and apply for the project. Include the annotation tools you know, the types of image and video tasks you have completed, your availability, and your proposed competitive rate.
Showcase 2 to 3 or more years of relevant visual annotation experience
Describe your experience with bounding boxes, polygons, classification, cuboids, object detection, or keypoints
