About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Legal experts help models improve by reviewing documents, creating high-quality examples, evaluating simulated scenarios, and explaining why an answer is accurate, incomplete, or incorrect.

This work gives subject-matter specialists a direct role in shaping how modern AI systems handle sophisticated professional tasks. Projects are remote and can offer flexible ways to contribute alongside other professional commitments.

The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Litigation and Transactions Attorney for a remote, part-time contractor opportunity requiring 20 or more hours per week. The role pays $140-$400 per hour.

You will work with complex litigation and transactional documents, draft representative agreements and clauses, and assess legal scenarios involving mergers and acquisitions, private equity, capital markets, data privacy, and cross-border transactions. Your legal judgment will help improve the precision, practical applicability, and consistency of model-generated legal content.

  • Engagement type: Contractor and part-time
  • Time requirement: 20+ hours per week
  • Work arrangement: Remote and worldwide
  • Pay: $140-$400 per hour
  • Primary language: English

What You'll Do

You will provide structured legal feedback for AI training work and collaborate remotely with interdisciplinary contributors. The work includes iterative review cycles designed to refine training data for legal precision and practical use.

  • Review and analyze complex litigation and transactional documents.
  • Evaluate contracts connected to M&A, private equity, and capital markets activities.
  • Draft sample agreements and legal clauses informed by high-value transaction and private equity experience.
  • Evaluate simulated legal scenarios and provide structured commentary for AI model development.
  • Develop or apply legal frameworks and decision rubrics for consistent review.
  • Provide legal insight to interdisciplinary collaborators and help ensure accuracy in simulated legal tasks.
  • Participate in feedback cycles that improve the precision and practical applicability of legal training data.

Requirements

This opportunity is intended for a US-trained attorney with active bar admission and substantial experience in litigation and complex transactional matters. Previous AI training experience is not required.

Applicants should be able to explain sophisticated legal reasoning clearly, perform careful analysis, and collaborate effectively with remote multidisciplinary teams. Experience developing or applying structured review rubrics is helpful but not required.

  • JD from a US law school.
  • Active US bar admission in good standing.
  • Experience at an AmLaw 100 or similarly prestigious law firm.
  • Strong background in litigation and complex transactional matters.
  • Expertise in M&A, private equity, capital markets, contract drafting, and data privacy.
  • Excellent written communication, legal research, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to collaborate remotely.
  • Ability to explain sophisticated legal reasoning in a clear, structured way.

Who Should Apply

This role is a strong fit for an attorney who enjoys applying legal judgment to complex, structured problems and wants to help shape how AI handles professional legal work. It may suit experienced litigators and transactional lawyers with the breadth to assess both documents and simulated legal scenarios.

The listed experience level is entry level for this AI training opportunity, but the role requires the specific legal education, bar standing, law firm background, and practice expertise described above.

  • Attorneys experienced with complex litigation and sophisticated transactions.
  • Legal professionals who can evaluate nuanced scenarios consistently.
  • Candidates interested in contributing to cutting-edge AI development without prior AI training experience.
