The Role
OpenTrain is seeking a Legal AI Response Evaluation Expert to create, review, and improve high-difficulty tasks based on practical legal work. You will analyze legal issues, apply laws and legal principles, produce gold-standard solutions, and assess AI-generated responses for accuracy, clarity, and usefulness.
The role combines legal judgment with expert quality review. It requires careful evaluation of complex matters, practical understanding of legal documents and advice, and consistent application of quality standards.

What You'll Do
You will develop realistic, demanding tasks that reflect real legal practice and establish the standards against which responses are evaluated. You will also review contributor work, maintain consistency across day-to-day quality decisions, and raise issues that require expert resolution.
Create expert tasks reflecting practical legal work
Develop gold-standard solutions to complex legal issues
Review legal responses for accuracy, clarity, usefulness, and practical value
Apply legal principles, laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance

Required Qualifications
This opportunity is designed for an experienced legal professional with approximately 5 to 15 years of legal practice, preferably at Senior Associate, Counsel, or an equivalent level. You must have a Juris Doctor, active bar admission, or an equivalent regional legal qualification and professional license.
Strong experience with commercial contracts and other legal documents is essential. You should be comfortable applying legal judgment to difficult issues, interpreting authoritative guidance, and assessing whether an answer is both legally sound and practically useful.
Approximately 5 to 15 years of legal practice experience
Senior Associate, Counsel, or equivalent professional experience preferred
Juris Doctor, active bar admission, or equivalent regional legal qualification and license
Advanced experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and revising commercial contracts
Experience with legal agreements, policies, and other legal documents
Ability to interpret laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance
Careful judgment and attention to detail when evaluating complex legal matters
Helpful Background
Prior experience in AI evaluation, data annotation, content review, quality assurance, or a related analytical role can be useful, but it is not required. A bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in any field is also accepted.
