About AI training work (why it matters)

AI training is the human side of building intelligent systems: people create, review, and refine the examples that teach models to understand and generate code, language, images, and more. Contributors do remote, flexible work that directly shapes how models behave.

• This role focuses on frontend code: ensuring examples and corrections produce accessible, maintainable, production-ready HTML/CSS.

The role

As an HTML/CSS Quality Assurance Lead you'll review AI-generated HTML/CSS and trainer QA output for semantic correctness, accessibility, responsive behavior, cross-browser compatibility, CSS architecture, maintainability, and rubric adherence. You will provide precise, actionable feedback and drive quality improvements across projects.

This is an hourly remote contractor role: 20+ hours per week, US-based contractors only, paid at $80/hr. Employment type: contractor, part-time.

What you'll do

• Review HTML/CSS snippets, layout implementations, accessibility fixes, debugging responses, and written explanations for correctness and clarity.
• Monitor quality, spot recurring issues, and escalate critical or repeated problems to preserve dataset integrity.
• Communicate guideline changes and workflow updates to contributors and help keep the community aligned.
• Maintain and improve style guides, FAQs, examples, honeypots, calibration tasks, trackers, and onboarding materials.
• Support onboarding and training calls for HTML/CSS contributors and help calibrate new reviewers.
• Flag inaccessible, misleading, invalid, brittle, or non-production-ready frontend recommendations.
• Identify recurring quality gaps and help build scalable QA processes and checks.

Requirements

• Strong HTML and CSS expertise: semantic markup, forms, tables, ARIA basics, responsive layouts, flexbox, grid, specificity, and the CSS cascade.
• Experience reviewing frontend code or QA output against detailed rubrics and giving clear technical feedback.
• Clear written English communication and comfort providing constructive critique to contributors.
• Familiarity with browser DevTools, Lighthouse, WCAG basics, GitHub, and common frontend workflows is preferred.
• Experience leading or supporting remote teams of reviewers, trainers, or frontend contributors is strongly preferred.
• Availability for 20+ hours per week; role is US-only and conducted remotely.
• Intermediate experience level; must be able to evaluate code for production-readiness and maintainability.

Helpful background

Useful experience includes AI training, data annotation, LLM evaluation, frontend code QA, accessibility review, and rubric-based code review. Familiarity with design systems, Figma handoff, CSS modules, Tailwind, Bootstrap, Sass, CI/CD, and frontend build tools is a plus.

How it works

OpenTrain hires and contracts contributors directly. This opportunity is an hourly contractor engagement paid at $80 USD per hour. You'll work remotely and set a regular part-time cadence of 20+ hours per week.

The work is focused on COMPUTER_CODE_PROGRAMMING data and uses evaluation/rating and RLHF-style review tasks. OpenTrain provides project docs, rubrics, and calibration materials; you'll help maintain and improve them.
