About AI Training and Evaluation

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Experts create examples, write model responses, and evaluate outputs so AI systems can provide more accurate, useful, and context-aware results. In this role, your HR judgment will help distinguish genuinely strong answers from generic or incomplete responses.

  • Apply professional expertise to AI-generated content
  • Evaluate reasoning, accuracy, and practical judgment
  • Help shape how AI supports HR-related scenarios

The Role

OpenTrain is seeking an HR AI Evaluation Task Expert to design evaluation tasks for AI systems operating in talent management, employee relations, and organizational design contexts. You will create realistic HR scenarios, draft reference outputs, and write rubrics that reflect how senior HR leaders think across US and international employment law tracks.

This is a remote, part-time contractor opportunity requiring 20+ hours per week. The pay range is $70–$80 per hour.

  • Role type: Contractor and part-time
  • Workload: 20+ hours per week
  • Pay: $70–$80 per hour
  • Work location: Worldwide and fully remote
  • Primary language: English

What You'll Do

You will develop challenging, realistic tasks that test whether AI systems can apply HR expertise rather than repeat textbook definitions or certification-exam-level information. Your work will cover a broad range of people, workforce, and organizational topics.

  • Construct scenarios covering talent acquisition, workforce planning, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits design, and organizational development.
  • Build tasks involving HRIS platforms such as Workday and SAP SuccessFactors, applicant tracking systems, and compensation benchmarking tools.
  • Apply workforce planning, compensation benchmarking, and employee relations investigation methodologies.
  • Produce reference HR policies, investigation reports, compensation analyses, and organizational design proposals.
  • Author rubrics that distinguish authentic HR judgment from generic or superficial responses.
  • Design evaluation criteria across US and international employment law tracks.

Requirements

This role requires substantial professional HR leadership or consulting experience. The structured experience level is listed as entry level, but the role-specific requirements call for at least five years of senior HR experience and direct ownership of relevant programs or matters.

  • At least 5 years as an HR leader or Chief People Officer at a major company or HR consulting firm
  • Direct ownership of talent programs, employee relations matters, or compensation design
  • Fluency in HRIS platforms, applicant tracking systems, compensation benchmarking tools, and relevant HR methodologies
  • Understanding of how employment law compliance works in US and/or international contexts
  • Recognized credential such as SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or an international equivalent
  • English fluency

Helpful Background

Experience with employment laws and regulatory frameworks will help you create accurate, nuanced evaluation tasks. Familiarity with either US or international contexts is relevant.

  • US employment laws, including Title VII, FLSA, ADA, and state law
  • UK Employment Rights Act
  • European Union labor directives
  • Prior rubric writing or training authorship

Why This Work Matters

Every major AI system depends on carefully prepared and reviewed human examples. By contributing your HR expertise, you will help improve AI behavior in areas where legal context, organizational judgment, and practical experience matter. OpenTrain offers a flexible way to participate in cutting-edge AI work while developing a career in the field.

  • Use your HR expertise in an emerging technology field
  • Work remotely with a flexible schedule
  • Help make AI outputs more practical, accurate, and professionally grounded
