About AI Training and Robotics Data

AI training is the human work behind modern artificial intelligence. People collect, record, annotate, and review examples that teach AI systems how to understand the world and respond effectively.

In this project, your household video demonstrations will help personal robotics systems learn how everyday activities are completed in real homes. Your careful movements and consistent recordings will contribute to the development of emerging home robotics technology.

The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Japan-based contractor to capture video demonstrations of everyday household activities in a Japanese home. You will perform natural, precise hand movements while using a wearable UMI gripper, VR headset, hand-tracking gloves, and recording equipment.

This entry-level, part-time contract role requires careful physical execution, reliable recording practices, and consistent adherence to detailed project specifications. The expected time commitment is 20+ hours per week.

  • Location: Japan
  • Engagement: Part-time contractor
  • Experience level: Entry level
  • Time requirement: 20+ hours per week
  • Pay: $15 USD per hour

What You'll Do

You will create and submit specification-compliant video data of common household activities. You will also operate specialized equipment, check your recordings, respond to quality feedback, and maintain a dependable workflow throughout the project.

  • Capture high-quality videos of everyday household tasks in a Japanese home.
  • Set up and operate the wearable UMI gripper, VR headset, hand-tracking gloves, and recording equipment.
  • Perform natural hand movements and precise physical tasks during varied household activities.
  • Follow task-specific instructions and verify that recordings meet project quality standards.
  • Review feedback and improve your recording methods and submitted video footage.
  • Upload large video files using stable, high-speed home internet.
  • Communicate clearly with the project team in writing and verbally.

Requirements

You should be able to follow complex specifications precisely and perform repetitive, precision-oriented activities in a household setting. The role requires access to a suitable Japanese home and the equipment and conditions needed for dependable video capture.

  • Strong attention to detail when following complex task specifications.
  • Manual dexterity and precision during varied household activities.
  • Comfort wearing and operating a VR headset for extended periods.
  • Comfort setting up and using hand-tracking and recording equipment.
  • Access to a Japanese household with a kitchen, living spaces, and common household items.
  • Stable internet suitable for uploading large video files.
  • A home environment with adequate space, lighting, connectivity, and equipment conditions.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to incorporate feedback.

Helpful Background

Prior participation in data collection, usability studies, or similar hands-on projects is useful but not required. Curiosity about personal robotics, artificial intelligence, and emerging technology in home environments can support your success.

  • Patience for repetitive, precision-oriented work.
  • Interest in how robotics and AI operate in real household environments.
  • Experience with hands-on projects that require consistent procedures and careful review.

Why This Work Matters

Every major AI system depends on examples prepared and reviewed by people. By recording real household activities, you will contribute practical data that helps shape how personal robotics systems learn physical tasks.

AI training and data collection can be a flexible way to work in a fast-growing technology field. Contributors use their skills and attention to detail to take part in cutting-edge projects from home.

  • Help train emerging personal robotics systems with real-world household demonstrations.
