About AI training (data labeling) work

AI training — also called data labeling or annotation — is the human side of building AI systems. Contributors prepare, correct, and tag examples (audio, text, images) that modern models learn from, making this a fast-growing and accessible way to work in tech.

  • Mostly remote and flexible: many projects let you set hours and workload.
  • Accessible entry paths: language fluency and attention to detail are often enough to start.
  • Work directly shapes how real-world AI systems interpret language and audio.

The role

OpenTrain is recruiting for a contract Hindi audio transcription and annotation specialist to work on a language-quality project for OpenTrain. This part-time role expects 20+ hours per week and is open worldwide to qualified Hindi speakers.

Work is focused on accurate transcription, correction of machine-generated transcripts, and applying metadata and entity tags to support search and model training.

  • Engagement: Contractor, part-time (20+ hours/week).
  • Language: Fluent spoken and written Hindi required.
  • Data type & tasks: Audio transcription and entity NER classification.

What you'll do

You will deliver client-ready Hindi transcripts and annotations that improve downstream AI performance. Expect hands-on transcription, quality review, and structured tagging work.

  • Transcribe Hindi audio with high fidelity to the speaker’s words and intent.
  • Review and correct machine-generated transcripts (fix errors, resolve ambiguity, ensure readability).
  • Add metadata and entity-level annotations to support retrieval and model training.
  • Meet delivery timelines and collaborate with the project team; provide clear feedback when issues arise.

Requirements

Candidates must meet the core skills below; these are mandatory to work effectively on this project.

  • Fluent spoken and written Hindi.
  • Experience with transcription, audio annotation, or metadata tagging for audio content.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with transcription software and common digital collaboration tools.

Helpful background and who should apply

This role is entry level but favors people with hands-on transcription or audio annotation experience. Apply if you want focused language work that builds an AI training portfolio.

  • Useful: experience as a professional transcriber, audio engineer, or data annotator.
  • Useful: familiarity with linguistic data processing or large-scale audio datasets.
  • Useful: prior exposure to AI/ML annotation workflows, though not required.

How it works and compensation

This is a contract, hourly-paid assignment. You will work remotely using the project's transcription platform (a custom/internal tool) and submit annotated files per project guidelines.

  • Pay: hourly, between $8 and $16 USD per hour depending on task and experience (project pays per hour).
  • Schedule: part-time contractor role with 20+ hours/week expected.
  • Labeling tools: project uses a custom transcription/annotation platform; experience with similar tools is required.
  • Apply via OpenTrain (creating an account is free) to build a verified AI training portfolio and start work.
