About OpenTrain

OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization for AI training and data-labeling work. It helps contributors find specialized projects, build a unified portfolio, and grow their experience in a rapidly expanding technology field.

About AI Training Work

AI systems learn from examples prepared and reviewed by people. In this role, your knowledge of hand anatomy will help train models to recognize hand poses, orientations, and interactions with objects in image and video data.

  • Work remotely with flexible contractor scheduling.
  • Apply professional domain knowledge to cutting-edge AI development.
  • No prior AI experience is required; specialized hand-anatomy expertise is central to the role.

The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a Hand Landmark Annotation Specialist to support an advanced hand-keypoint annotation project. You will place and review anatomical landmarks using MediaPipe-style hand topology while following detailed protocols and specified tolerance thresholds.

  • Employment type: Contractor, part-time
  • Time requirement: 20+ hours per week
  • Work arrangement: Remote, worldwide
  • Language: English
  • Compensation: $15–$80 per hour, based on experience and qualifications

What You'll Do

You will annotate hand and finger landmarks across varied images and videos. The work requires careful visual reasoning, especially when joints are partially occluded or hand positions and object interactions make landmarks difficult to interpret.

  • Mark the wrist, MCP, PIP, DIP, fingertips, and thumb-specific joints including CMC, MCP, IP, and thumb tip.
  • Place landmarks precisely according to annotation protocols and tolerance thresholds.
  • Interpret hand poses, orientations, and perspectives consistently across varied data.
  • Infer and annotate partially occluded or visually challenging joints.
  • Review visual feedback, identify deviations, and make targeted corrections.
  • Maintain accurate, consistent annotations at scale.

Requirements

This role is intended for a certified physiotherapist or physical therapist with deep knowledge of hand anatomy and joint landmarks. The position is listed as entry level for AI-training experience, but it requires relevant professional expertise and annotation ability.

  • Certified physiotherapist or physical therapist.
  • Deep knowledge of hand anatomy and anatomical joint landmarks.
  • Experience with keypoint or landmark annotation.
  • Proficiency with MediaPipe-style hand topology or similar landmark-placement guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed protocols.
  • Visual reasoning skills for complex hand poses and occlusions.
  • Ability to work with image and video data.

Why This Work Matters

Human reviewers are essential to building reliable AI. By contributing precise anatomical annotations, you will help models learn how hands move, appear from different perspectives, and interact with surrounding objects.

  • Work on technology at the forefront of AI development.
  • Use your clinical knowledge in a specialized data-labeling application.
  • Build experience that can strengthen your long-term AI training portfolio.
