The Role
OpenTrain AI is seeking a Hand Anatomy Keypoint Annotator to identify and annotate hand and finger landmarks on images and video frames. Your specialized knowledge in anatomy, medicine, or physiotherapy will help AI systems understand complex human hand poses and interactions.
This is a fully remote contractor position for part-time work of 20 or more hours per week. Prior AI experience is not required; the role relies on your domain knowledge, visual reasoning, and ability to follow precise annotation protocols.

What You'll Do
You will produce accurate point and keypoint annotations for hands across varied images and video frames. The work requires careful interpretation of anatomy, pose, orientation, perspective, and partial visibility.
Annotate hand and finger landmarks using MediaPipe-style hand topology
Mark the wrist, MCP, PIP, DIP, and fingertip landmarks
Mark thumb-specific joints, including CMC, MCP, IP, and the thumb tip
Follow defined annotation protocols and tolerance thresholds
Infer and annotate partially occluded or visually challenging joints
Interpret a wide range of hand poses, orientations, and perspectives
Review visual feedback, identify deviations, and make corrections
Maintain annotation quality with a quality-assurance mindset
Requirements
This role is designed for applicants with formal or equivalent knowledge of anatomy and the structure of the hand. You should be comfortable analyzing visual material and applying detailed guidelines consistently.
Anatomy, medicine, or physiotherapy degree or equivalent coursework
Understanding of hand skeletal anatomy and joint terminology
Familiarity with MCP, PIP, DIP, and CMC joints
Ability to interpret complex hand poses and partial occlusions
Strong attention to detail and visual reasoning
Ability to follow strict annotation protocols and tolerance thresholds
Comfort with image and video analysis
Willingness to maintain consistent annotation quality
