Why AI training matters
AI training (data labeling / annotation) is how modern AI systems learn from human examples. People who transcribe, rate, and clean voice interactions directly shape how assistants understand and respond in real-world conversations.
This work is highly flexible, often remote, and accessible to contributors who are detail-oriented and fluent in the target language.
The role
As a German Voice AI Data Rater you will use your voice and a Mac with Apple Silicon to complete everyday tasks for a voice assistant, transcribe spoken queries, produce cleaned transcripts, and rate the assistant’s responses for quality.
This is a contractor, part-time role requiring 20+ hours per week. The position pays $38 USD per hour and is open worldwide to qualified applicants who meet the hardware and language requirements.
What you'll do
Daily work combines hands-on voice tasks, careful transcription, structured logging, and quality rating. You'll both generate and evaluate voice-driven interactions to help improve assistant behavior.
Use your voice to compose messages, emails, notes, and other everyday app tasks on a Mac (Apple Silicon required).

Transcribe spoken queries accurately and produce a cleaned-up transcript suitable for training data.
Rate assistant responses for quality, relevance, and correctness using provided rubrics.
Log task metadata in a structured tracking sheet and upload supporting audio recordings for review.
Requirements
You must meet all listed requirements to be considered for this role.
Native or near-native German fluency (spoken and written).
Strong English comprehension to follow instructions and labeling guidelines.
Own a Mac with an Apple Silicon chip (M1, M2, M3, or equivalent).
Regular user of common productivity apps: email, messaging, docs, spreadsheets, browsers.
Comfortable with detailed, structured data entry and self-directed quality review.
Experience with transcription accuracy, cleaned transcript creation, and response rating.
Helpful background
These are not required but will help you succeed and move faster in the project.
Previous experience working with bilingual spoken-language tasks or voice datasets.
Familiarity with voice-driven workflows and productivity software workflows.
Strong attention to detail for transcription accuracy and consistent rating decisions.
Logistics, pay, and how to apply
This contractor role is paid at $38 USD per hour and requires a minimum commitment of 20+ hours per week. Work is fully remote and open worldwide where local rules permit.
You will submit cleaned transcripts, structured tracking-sheet entries, and upload audio recordings to a shared drive for quality review. OpenTrain provides the task instructions, rating rubrics, and submission templates.
To apply, create or sign into your OpenTrain account, complete the role-specific qualification checks, and submit your application through the platform. Successful applicants will receive onboarding materials and detailed labeling guidelines.
