The role

We are hiring a German–English localization and translation expert (contractor, part-time) to review AI-generated text for the Germany locale. You will evaluate accuracy, clarity, reasoning quality, and adherence to prompts and style guidelines; identify linguistic and methodological issues; fact-check details when necessary; and produce corrected outputs plus explanations or model answers.

• Employment type: Contractor, part-time (less than 20 hours/week).
• Pay: $35 USD per hour.
• Location requirement: must be currently based in Germany.

What you’ll do day-to-day

• Review AI-generated German and English text for accuracy, tone, register, and cultural appropriateness for Germany (DE).
• Apply MQM/LQA error typologies and style guides to classify and explain errors with consistent severity decisions.
• Rate and rank multiple AI responses using structured evaluation criteria (RLHF-style evaluation and evaluation ratings).
• Write high-quality corrected outputs and model answers with clear rationales and editing notes.
• Manage terminology and translation memory usage; perform CAT-tool QA checks where applicable.
• Fact-check units, names, dates, references and other locale-specific details using reliable sources.

Requirements

• Currently based in Germany (required).
• Native or near-native German proficiency with strong professional writing and editing skills for the Germany locale.
• English proficiency at C1+ (reading and writing) to interpret prompts and evaluation guidelines.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in German Translation, Linguistics, Localization, Communications, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional localization/translation experience; multilingual localization experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience applying MQM/LQA frameworks, making consistent severity/category decisions.
• Proficiency with CAT tools, terminology management (TMs/termbases), and QA workflows.
• Strong copyediting skills, tone/register control, and sensitivity to inclusivity and cultural nuance.
• Ability to rigorously fact-check localized content using reliable sources and sound reasoning.
• Prior experience with AI data training, annotation, or evaluation is preferred (not required).
