About this role OpenTrain is recruiting for a Geospatial Analysis Specialist role focused on QGIS-based spatial analysis work that supports next-generation AI systems. You will design and maintain spatial databases, run advanced geoprocessing and spatial modeling, build or customize QGIS plugins, automate workflows with Python and PyQGIS, and produce cartographic maps and visualizations for reporting and decision support. The work centers on high-quality geospatial input and clear technical communication across collaborative project settings.
What you will do - Manage spatial databases and maintain data integrity and accuracy. - Perform advanced geoprocessing and spatial modeling in QGIS. - Develop, customize, and maintain QGIS plugins and extensions. - Automate geospatial workflows with Python and PyQGIS. - Prepare maps and visualizations for reports, presentations, and decision support. - Communicate technical geospatial findings clearly to different stakeholders.
Required skills - Strong QGIS experience, especially spatial database management, geoprocessing, and map production. - Proficiency with Python and hands-on automation in QGIS using PyQGIS. - Solid understanding of spatial projections, coordinate systems, and data transformation. - Ability to customize QGIS through plugin development or scripting. - Clear written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical audiences. - Strong organization and attention to detail while managing multiple priorities.
Helpful background - Experience working in remote or distributed teams. - Familiarity with other open-source GIS tools or cloud-based geospatial platforms. - Background in spatial analysis for environmental science, urban planning, or resource management.
