About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the leading platform for people building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help contributors discover projects, track work across platforms, and build a unified portfolio to grow a durable freelance career in the fast-changing field of AI.

Why AI training work matters

AI models learn from real human examples prepared and reviewed by people. That includes transcription, recording voice data, and correcting machine-generated outputs — work that directly shapes how conversational systems, speech recognition, and language models perform.

This is flexible, accessible remote work: many projects let you choose hours and workload, and entry-level contributors can get started with strong language skills and attention to detail. You will be part of the human efforts that improve state-of-the-art AI systems.

The role — French Transcription and Audio Data Specialist

OpenTrain is recruiting for a contractor to review and correct French transcriptions and to record clear spoken French from provided texts. This part-time role expects contributors to deliver consistent, high-quality written and spoken data to improve transcription and voice-model performance.

Work is remote and worldwide; this role requires fluent French and the ability to work independently in a quiet environment. Typical commitment is 20+ hours per week and compensation is paid hourly.

  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
  • Time requirement: 20+ hours/week
  • Pay: USD $15–$23 per hour (typical rate up to $23/hr)
  • Languages required: French (fr)
  • Data types: Audio — transcription and audio recording

What you'll do day-to-day

You will perform mixed transcription and recording tasks that support AI training pipelines. Tasks combine written correction of machine transcriptions with producing clean audio samples that match provided text prompts.

  • Review and correct machine-generated French transcriptions for grammar, punctuation, and contextual accuracy
  • Record high-quality audio clips by reading provided texts aloud with clear diction and consistent volume
  • Work in a quiet, distraction-free environment to ensure usable recordings
  • Provide constructive feedback on transcription errors or recording issues to help improve workflows
  • Collaborate with the project team to meet deadlines and quality standards
  • Follow data privacy and confidentiality guidelines at all times

Requirements

Candidates must meet all required skills below; these are essential for success on this project.

  • Fluent French with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong ability to identify and correct language inaccuracies in transcriptions
  • Clear vocal diction and strong enunciation for audio recording work
  • Comfort using simple audio recording tools (for example, a laptop microphone)
  • Ability to work independently in a quiet remote environment
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to quality
  • Proactive, responsive, and able to meet tight deadlines

Helpful background (preferred but not required)

You do not need formal credentials to apply, but the following experience can make your application stronger and help you move faster on tasks.

  • Experience as an audio engineer, voice artist, or voice actor
  • Call center or customer-communication background with voice training
  • Familiarity with transcription or linguistic annotation tools

How to apply and what to expect

Apply with your OpenTrain profile and include examples that demonstrate your French writing and speaking ability if available. Expect a brief onboarding test that assesses transcription accuracy and a short audio recording sample to confirm diction and recording quality.

This role uses simple audio tools (labeling software listed as OTHER) and follows standard project guidelines. As a contractor you will track your hours and submit work according to project schedules and quality review processes.

  • Onboarding typically includes a transcription correction task and a short recorded sample
  • Work is evaluated against defined quality metrics; feedback is provided to help you improve
  • Payments follow the project’s contractor schedule at the posted hourly rate
