The FreeCAD Task Creator Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a FreeCAD Task Creator for AI Training to produce realistic screen recordings and task documentation for AI model development. You will create challenging workflows based on practical open-source CAD, parametric modeling, product design, mechanical modeling, and technical drawing use cases.

This is an hourly, remote contractor role for contributors who can work independently and deliver consistent quality across time zones. The position is listed as entry level, but it requires hands-on experience with FreeCAD and its core modeling workflows.

• Contractor and part-time engagement
• Pay: $20 USD per hour
• Time requirement: 20+ hours per week
• Remote work from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Nepal, or Pakistan
• English proficiency: B2 level or higher

What You’ll Do

You will plan, execute, record, and review complete FreeCAD tasks. Each submission should reflect a realistic user workflow and include enough context for reviewers to understand the objective, process, and result.

Before recording, you will prepare your computer setup, install FreeCAD, and gather any required files, assets, reference images, or dimensions. After completing the workflow, you will check the recording and documentation for clarity, completeness, realism, and alignment with project guidelines.

• Design realistic and challenging FreeCAD tasks based on practical CAD and product design scenarios
• Prepare files, assets, reference images, dimensions, and the required FreeCAD setup
• Record yourself completing each task on your computer
• Document task goals, context, steps, dimensions, files, and relevant notes
• Work with sketches, constraints, parametric features, workbenches, technical drawings, exports, assemblies, or troubleshooting where relevant
• Review completed recordings and documentation before submission

Required Skills and Experience

You should have practical experience using FreeCAD for parametric modeling, sketching, constraints, technical drawings, exports, or related CAD workflows. You must also be able to create realistic and challenging tasks that reflect actual open-source CAD and mechanical modeling use cases.

Strong attention to detail is important because both the workflow and its documentation must be understandable and complete. You should be comfortable working independently, following instructions, managing files, and checking your own work before submission.

• Hands-on experience with FreeCAD parametric modeling, sketching, constraints, technical drawings, exports, or related CAD workflows
• Working knowledge of Sketcher, constraints, Part Design, Part workbench, bodies, sketches, pads, pockets, booleans, TechDraw, and file exports
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher for understanding instructions and documenting tasks clearly
• Comfort using a computer, installing and opening programs, managing files, navigating software interfaces, and recording workflows
• Ability to self-review completed tasks for quality and completeness
• Reliable, self-directed work habits and consistent delivery in a remote hourly workflow
