The Role
OpenTrain AI is recruiting a Finance Reconciliation AI Task Author to design expert accounting scenarios that train and evaluate advanced AI agents. You will convert realistic finance workflows into objectively scorable tasks involving payment-to-invoice matching, billing against recognized revenue, and margin report analysis.
This is a fully remote, flexible hourly contract for finance professionals across Canada. The role requires a commitment of 20 or more hours per week and pays $60 to $120 USD per hour.

What You’ll Do
You will create, test, and refine finance-focused tasks that have clear answers and measurable evaluation criteria. Each scenario must reflect realistic accounting work while remaining sufficiently structured for consistent AI assessment.
- Author prompts based on multi-step payment matching, billing and revenue reconciliation, and margin analysis problems.
- Build scoring rubrics with exact numerical outcomes and required reasoning steps.
- Set up financial data, documents, and system states for realistic accounting scenarios.
- Solve each task to verify that calculations and rubric requirements are correct.
- Adjust data complexity, source-document ambiguity, and reasoning steps to calibrate difficulty.
- Review and correct AI-drafted prompts and rubrics when provided.
Required Qualifications
Hands-on experience as an accountant, finance analyst, or closely related professional is required. You should be comfortable applying accounting judgment to multi-step reconciliations and translating that judgment into precise, verifiable instructions for AI evaluation.
- Strong numerical reasoning and experience with multi-step reconciliation problems.
- Knowledge of revenue recognition principles, matching rules, and standard accounting workflows.
- Experience working with financial documents, spreadsheets, and accounting system outputs.
- Ability to define verifiable correctness criteria and explain documented variances.
- Ability to test and refine tasks for appropriate difficulty and reliable gradability.
Helpful Background
Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or enterprise B2B finance environments can help you create realistic scenarios. Familiarity with ERP or accounting platforms and experience in audit, financial controls, or revenue assurance are also relevant to this work.
