About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building modern artificial intelligence. Specialists review model outputs, provide expert judgments, and turn real-world knowledge into structured examples that help AI systems become more accurate and reliable.

This role focuses on generative AI evaluation and fine-tuning. Your fantasy sports expertise will help establish professional standards for how AI understands league mechanics, scoring systems, roster decisions, projections, and other domain-specific logic.

  • Contribute to cutting-edge AI development
  • Apply practical expertise to model evaluation
  • Work remotely with flexible part-time scheduling

The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Fantasy Sports AI Evaluation Expert to help fine-tune large language models by grounding them in sports analytics and fantasy sports logic. You will translate league mechanics into structured parameters, deterministic spreadsheet formulas, and verifiable reference materials.

The work includes checking whether AI-generated outputs reflect professional fantasy sports practice across scoring, drafting, rosters, standings, playoffs, and projections. The engagement is a part-time contractor role requiring 20 or more hours per week.

  • Evaluate AI outputs against professional fantasy sports standards
  • Turn complex league rules into consistent, testable logic
  • Support model fine-tuning through expert review

What You'll Do

You will define the parameters needed to evaluate fantasy sports scenarios and verify that the supporting data and calculations are accurate. You will also design, review, and calibrate materials used to assess AI-generated fantasy sports analysis.

  • Define sport, league size, scoring format, roster settings, positional limits, and valuation methods
  • Validate player projections, roster exports, and customized scoring rule sets
  • Verify scoring formulas, standings logic, playoff logic, draft-value calculations, and validation lists
  • Review AI-generated fantasy sports outputs against professional industry practice
  • Design, evaluate, and calibrate fantasy draft boards, game scoreboards, and projection models
  • Translate complex league rules into concise formulas and structured parameters
  • Check PPR and standard scoring logic, rankings, tiers, roster limits, and standings tiebreakers

Requirements

This opportunity requires substantial fantasy sports or sports analytics experience. Candidates should be able to make expert judgments about league mechanics and communicate those judgments precisely in written and spreadsheet-based formats.

A bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience is required. You must also have a personal computer and stable, high-speed internet connection.

  • At least five years of experience in sports analytics, fantasy sports content or tools development, or league commissioning
  • Deep knowledge of PPR and standard scoring formats
  • Strong understanding of draft rankings, player tiers, roster limits, and standings tiebreakers
  • Ability to express complex rules through deterministic spreadsheet formulas
  • Strong professional writing and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Personal computer with stable, high-speed internet
  • English proficiency

Helpful Background

Experience with AI evaluation, data annotation, content review, quality assurance, or another analytical discipline will help you review materials efficiently. Familiarity with the specific fantasy sports resources used in this work will also support effective evaluation.

  • AI evaluation or fine-tuning experience
  • Data annotation or content review experience
  • Quality assurance experience
  • Experience with player projections and roster exports
  • Experience with draft boards, scoreboards, or playoff calculations
