About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for people building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help contributors discover projects, build unified AI-training portfolios, and grow into durable freelance careers working on the human side of AI.

OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization for this role. We offer flexible, remote work that connects you to cutting-edge AI training projects and a community of trainers, reviewers, and contributors.

About AI training and why it matters

AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human work that teaches models how to understand language, images, and audio. Contributors directly shape model behavior by reviewing outputs, rating responses, and curating examples.

This work is highly flexible and remote-friendly: many projects let you choose hours and workload, and roles range from entry-level tasks to specialist review and QA leadership like this position.

The role

You will be the English Quality Assurance Lead reviewing AI-generated English content and trainer or QA submissions across OpenTrain projects. Your assessments will cover accuracy, clarity, reasoning quality, grammar, tone, formatting, instruction-following, and rubric alignment.

You will write precise, constructive feedback to help contributors improve consistency and quality, track recurring issues, maintain style guides and onboarding docs, and support remote activation and coordination of contributors.

What you'll do

  • Review AI-generated English content and trainer/QC work for quality and consistency.
  • Check submissions against project guidelines, rubrics, and expected standards.
  • Provide clear written feedback and escalate recurring quality issues.
  • Communicate updates, instructions, and workflow changes to trainers and QAs.
  • Maintain documentation such as style guides, FAQs, trackers, examples, and onboarding materials.
  • Support onboarding and training calls for trainers and QAs.
  • Help improve QA workflows and strengthen quality processes across future projects.

Requirements

This role requires strong English language skills and experience evaluating writing against detailed rubrics or style guides. You must be able to explain issues constructively in written form and be comfortable using common remote collaboration tools.

  • Strong command of English grammar, tone, clarity, and structure.
  • Experience in quality assurance, editing, content review, AI training, annotation, or localization QA.
  • Ability to evaluate writing against detailed rubrics and style guides and give constructive written feedback.
  • Comfortable using Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience supporting remote collaboration is a plus.

Helpful background and fit

Ideal candidates have experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, reviewers, editors, or QAs and familiarity with large language models or rubric-based LLM evaluation. This is an intermediate-level role: you should be comfortable making judgment calls based on guidelines and helping others improve.

  • Experience with large language models, prompt/response evaluation, or rubric-based LLM QA is helpful.
  • Previous work creating or maintaining style guides, onboarding materials, or QA trackers is a plus.

Logistics and how to apply

This is a part-time contractor position requiring 20+ hours/week. Pay is $35/hour (USD). Work is remote but restricted to applicants in the United States, and the role is conducted in English.

To apply, prepare examples of editing or QA feedback you've provided (if available) and be ready to demonstrate your ability to evaluate writing against rubrics. OpenTrain AI will manage contracting, onboarding, and project assignments for successful candidates.

  • Languages: English required.
  • Location: United States only.
  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time.
  • Data type: Text; Labeling task: Evaluation/rating.
