About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. People review and improve model-generated text, explanations, and other data so AI systems become more accurate, helpful, safe, and appropriate for their intended audiences.

In this role, your elementary science knowledge will help evaluate whether AI-generated educational content is scientifically sound, understandable for young learners, and suitable for classroom or learning use.

The Role

OpenTrain is seeking an Elementary Science Quality Assurance Lead for remote contractor work supporting AI training projects focused on elementary science. You will review AI-generated lessons, worksheets, activities, quizzes, explanations, and related trainer or quality-assurance work.

Your reviews will assess whether content is accurate, age-appropriate, engaging, safe, clearly explained, and aligned with project expectations. You will also help maintain consistent standards across educators and quality reviewers.

  • Contractor and part-time opportunity
  • Remote work available to candidates in India
  • Advertised rate of up to $10 per hour
  • Time requirement of 20+ hours per week
  • English-language work
  • The project does not specify a fixed schedule or duration

What You’ll Do

You will evaluate science content and reviewer work against detailed project guidelines and rubrics. The role combines subject-matter review, quality assurance, written feedback, and support for reliable remote review workflows.

  • Assess scientific accuracy across elementary life, physical, earth, and environmental science
  • Check grade-level fit, conceptual clarity, curriculum alignment, and reasoning quality
  • Review child-safe language, formatting, instruction-following, and overall content quality
  • Identify scientific inaccuracies, unsafe experiment suggestions, and misleading simplifications
  • Flag incorrect analogies, confusing explanations, misconceptions, and overly advanced wording
  • Provide precise, actionable written feedback to educators and quality reviewers
  • Identify recurring issues and communicate guidance to support consistent decisions
  • Maintain project documentation and help improve remote QA workflows
  • Apply detailed rubrics and help calibrate reviewers

Requirements

Candidates should have a bachelor’s or master’s degree, teaching credential, or equivalent professional experience in elementary education, science education, biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, environmental science, STEM education, or a related field.

The listed experience level is entry level, while the role also requires at least three years of relevant teaching, tutoring, curriculum, content review, science communication, instructional, or education experience. Experience with educational QA, rubric-based review, AI training, data annotation, LLM evaluation, or remote reviewer teams is valuable.

  • Strong English communication and precise written feedback skills
  • Broad knowledge of elementary science and child-friendly explanations
  • Ability to evaluate scientific accuracy, grade-level fit, and misconceptions
  • Sound judgment when identifying unsafe activities or misleading content
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow detailed rubrics
  • Ability to support reviewer calibration and consistent quality decisions
  • At least three years of relevant teaching, tutoring, curriculum, review, science communication, instructional, or education experience

Who Should Apply

This opportunity is suited to educators, science communicators, curriculum specialists, tutors, and other science or education professionals who can explain elementary concepts clearly and recognize when an AI-generated answer is inaccurate, unsafe, confusing, or inappropriate for young learners.

It may also fit candidates building experience in AI evaluation and data labeling who bring the required elementary science expertise, strong written English, and the ability to make careful rubric-based judgments.

  • Elementary education and science education professionals
  • Candidates with biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, environmental science, or STEM experience
  • Reviewers who are comfortable giving clear, actionable feedback
  • Applicants available for at least 20 hours per week in India
