The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Data Annotation Generalist to analyze and label English text for classification projects. You will follow detailed project guidelines, resolve ambiguous cases with project leads, document edge cases, and provide feedback to improve annotation processes and quality control.

What You’ll Do

• Annotate diverse text examples consistently and accurately for classification tasks.
• Follow evolving project guidelines and adapt quickly to new instructions.
• Identify and document ambiguous inputs, edge cases, and repeat issues.
• Communicate regularly in writing (and verbally when needed) with project leads.
• Contribute constructive feedback to help refine annotation procedures and improve dataset quality.
• Maintain high attention to detail and meet quality standards on assigned tasks.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in data annotation or a related field (entry level welcome).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• High attention to detail and a clear commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to adapt to evolving task guidelines and follow detailed instructions.
• Comfort working independently in a remote, contractor capacity.
• Generalist mindset and willingness to annotate a wide range of text content.

Time, Pay & Project Details

This is a part-time contractor role requiring 20+ hours per week. Work is remote and open worldwide; English is required.
