The Role
OpenTrain AI is seeking a Computational Physics AI Training Expert to contribute advanced domain knowledge to AI training work. You will use AI coding agents in realistic computational physics workflows, showing how technical professionals solve complex problems, navigate large codebases, debug difficult issues, and evaluate potential architectural changes.
The role requires careful technical reasoning, clear documentation, and the ability to generate and assess agent-driven sequences. It is a contractor, part-time opportunity requiring 20 or more hours per week, with compensation of $80–$100 per hour.

What You'll Do
You will create high-quality examples and technical feedback that help improve AI model training. Your work will center on practical, end-to-end computational physics workflows and the reasoning behind technical decisions.
Create detailed walkthroughs of computational physics problem-solving in complex technical scenarios.
Demonstrate practical use of Codex, Claude Science, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork for codebase navigation, debugging, and feature development.
Document the approaches, decisions, and methodologies used during agent-driven sequence generation.
Assess workflows involving architectural changes and ambiguous computational challenges.
Produce high-quality examples and technical feedback for AI model training.
Communicate technical findings accurately through written and verbal explanations.
Requirements and Helpful Background
This role is listed at the entry level, but it requires advanced hands-on computational physics experience and strong technical research judgment. Professionals who currently or recently work in STEM and actively use AI agents beyond basic coding support may be especially well suited.
You should be able to explain complex, end-to-end technical solutions; describe the tools and decisions involved; and assess agent-driven problem-solving sequences rather than relying only on chat interactions.
Advanced hands-on experience in computational physics, technical problem-solving, and research.
Real-world use of Codex, Claude Science, Claude Code, or Claude Cowork for multi-step STEM work is valuable.
Ability to explain debugging, architectural changes, and decisions in large codebases.
Experience with debugging, architectural change management, or development in large-scale code environments.
Ability to generate and assess agent-driven sequences rather than relying on chat-based interactions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including detailed technical documentation.
