The Role
OpenTrain AI is seeking a Computational Fluid Dynamics AI Evaluation Engineer to assess advanced CFD challenges and AI-generated engineering content. The work combines practical simulation expertise with careful evaluation of technical accuracy, reasoning quality, and engineering integrity.
This opportunity is classified as entry level, while strong hands-on CFD capability and relevant technical knowledge are expected. It is designed for an individual technical contributor working remotely on a contractor basis.

What You'll Do
You will evaluate and solve CFD problems spanning fluid flow, heat transfer, multiphysics, mesh generation, turbulence modeling, and solver configuration. You will also document feedback and provide clear written and verbal explanations that help improve model learning and performance.
Review AI-generated engineering responses for correctness, technical accuracy, and engineering integrity
Apply practical judgment to simulation scenarios and theoretical fluid-dynamics questions
Troubleshoot simulations using mesh-independence studies, turbulence-model selection, boundary-condition specification, and convergence analysis
Validate fluid-flow, heat-transfer, and multiphysics work against experimental or analytical data
Identify technical errors and communicate precise recommendations
Answer technical questions and explain complex CFD reasoning in writing and verbally
Required Qualifications
A bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, or a related fluid-dynamics or thermofluids field is preferred. Equivalent practical experience may also qualify. At least three years of hands-on CFD simulation and validation experience is preferred.
Hands-on experience conducting and validating CFD simulations, including meshing, solver setup, turbulence modeling, and post-processing
Strong knowledge of the Navier-Stokes equations, RANS, LES, DES, boundary conditions, convergence analysis, and verification and validation practices
Ability to analyze fluid-flow, heat-transfer, and multiphysics problems using CFD tools
Ability to compare simulation results with experimental or analytical data and identify technical errors
Excellent English proficiency
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to explain complex CFD reasoning and provide precise technical feedback
Helpful Background

Familiarity with ASME V&V 20, AIAA CFD verification and validation, ITTC procedures, or comparable practices
