The Role
OpenTrain AI is recruiting a Computational Biology AI Evaluation Expert to assess and improve AI coding agents through authentic computational biology work. You will apply practical domain judgment to sequence generation, technical problem-solving, codebase navigation, debugging, and solution architecture.
This contractor opportunity is designed for a STEM professional who can evaluate how AI coding tools perform in complex technical settings. Prior AI training experience is not required, but hands-on computational biology expertise and practical experience with AI coding agents are required.

What You'll Do

Use Codex, Claude Science, Claude Code, Claude Cowork, or comparable AI coding agents in realistic workflows.
Complete sequence-generation and other multi-step computational biology tasks.
Navigate large codebases, debug intricate issues, implement end-to-end features, and manage architectural changes.
Document your approaches, workflows, technical decisions, and outcomes rather than relying on simple conversational interactions.
Review model performance, usability, and suitability for professional STEM environments.
Evaluate sequence-generation workflows and explain technical outcomes in detail.
Contribute insights that inform model improvements and computational biology benchmarks.
Communicate technical findings clearly in written and verbal form.
Discuss tool iterations, ambiguous requirements, and novel problem spaces with the project team.
Requirements
You should be an active STEM practitioner with hands-on computational biology experience and a track record of solving complex technical problems in the field. Strong technical judgment is important, particularly when assessing whether an AI-generated solution is accurate, usable, and suitable for professional computational biology work.
