About AI training work

AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is the human side of building modern AI: people prepare and validate examples, evaluate model outputs, and create tools that guide model behavior. These roles are often fully remote, flexible, and a direct way to shape how real-world AI systems perform.

The role

OpenTrain is recruiting a Competitive Programming Contest Coder to participate in a live Codeforces-style programming contest as a checker/validator. You will implement robust C++ checker solutions, validate outputs, and ensure solution correctness under contest time pressure.

This is a one-time, live contest participation role. You will work as a contractor in a remote setting, expected to contribute 20+ hours/week during the contest window.

What you'll do

  • Implement C++ checker programs that validate contestant outputs against problem specifications and edge cases.
  • Analyze complex problem constraints and multiple valid solution paths to design reliable validation logic.
  • Validate code outputs and check consistency across test cases and corner conditions.
  • Deliver well-documented, maintainable code under tight contest deadlines.

Requirements

  • Expertise in competitive programming and coding problem analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in C++ for implementing robust checker solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex constraints and multiple solution approaches.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication; ability to articulate technical details clearly.
  • Meticulous attention to detail when validating outputs and ensuring correctness.
  • Experience working independently in a remote environment and commitment to producing high-quality code on deadline.
  • Fluent English (project language).

Helpful background

  • Prior experience as a problem setter, tester, or checker on major competitive programming platforms is a plus.

Schedule & pay

This is a one-time live contest participation role billed hourly. The role is contractor, part-time, and remote.

  • Pay rate: $45–$65 per hour (PAY_PER_HOUR, USD).
  • Estimated project earnings: $7,200–$10,400 based on the contest schedule and duration shown on OpenTrain.
  • Expected time commitment: 20+ hours/week during the contest.

How it works

Apply through your OpenTrain profile. If selected, you will receive contest details, onboarding instructions, and a clear delivery timeline. OpenTrain handles contracts and payment processing so you can focus on the technical work.

OpenTrain helps you centralize experience and build a lasting portfolio of AI training projects — useful if you want more contest-based or coding-focused AI training work in the future.
