About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help freelancers consolidate proof of work, discover projects that match their skills, and grow a lasting portfolio of AI training experience.

OpenTrain is the hiring and contracting organization for this role. You will be contracted directly through OpenTrain to perform Python code evaluation and related annotation tasks.

Why AI training work matters

AI training (data labeling / annotation) is the human side of building modern AI. People prepare, review, and rate examples that teach models how to solve problems, explain reasoning, and produce safe, useful outputs.

This work is highly flexible and remote-friendly, good for people who prefer part-time or contract work, who want direct impact on model behavior, and who enjoy detailed technical review and clear written feedback.

The role

As a Chinese-Speaking Python Code Reviewer you will evaluate AI-generated Python answers and Chinese-language technical explanations, judge correctness and clarity, and write concise, actionable feedback that improves future model responses.

This is an hourly, remote contractor role. You will apply consistent rubrics across repeated review tasks, produce reference solutions, and annotate common error patterns with bilingual labels to support downstream training.

  • Employment type: Contractor (remote)
  • Languages required: Mandarin Chinese and clear written English
  • Work focus: Python 3.x code evaluation, bilingual feedback, RLHF-style ratings

What you'll do

You will perform focused, repeatable evaluation and annotation tasks on AI-generated code and explanations. Tasks will follow clear rubrics and require consistent judgment across many examples.

  • Review AI-generated Python solutions for correctness, edge-case handling, and idiomatic Python 3.x usage
  • Assess time and space complexity and readability of solutions
  • Compare multiple model responses and write concise expert feedback
  • Create high-quality reference explanations and model solutions
  • Evaluate Chinese-language technical content for clarity and precision (including Traditional Chinese for Hong Kong contexts)
  • Annotate common Python error patterns with bilingual labels to support consistent evaluation
  • Apply consistent rubrics across repeated review tasks and record ratings

Requirements

Candidates must meet the technical and language expectations below. We preserve all core requirements from the role description.

  • Strong working knowledge of Python 3.x fundamentals: data structures, functions, modules, exceptions
  • Practical debugging and code review experience
  • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese (able to evaluate technical writing in Simplified and Traditional Chinese) and clear written English
  • Ability to judge correctness, edge cases, complexity, and readability consistently
  • Detail-oriented and self-directed work style suitable for remote contractor tasks
  • Prior experience with AI data training, annotation, or evaluating AI-generated content is strongly preferred

Who should apply

This role fits developers, code reviewers, and technically literate bilingual contributors who enjoy explaining decisions in writing and who can assess code with attention to edge cases and performance.

Entry-level applicants are welcome if they can demonstrate solid Python skills, clear bilingual technical comprehension, and an ability to follow rubrics consistently.

Compensation, logistics, and labels

Pay is hourly within the advertised range. Tasks will be paid per hour as a contractor and tracked through OpenTrain's systems.

This role focuses on text data (code and explanations) and uses RLHF, evaluation rating, and text-generation style labeling workflows.

  • Hourly rate: USD 20–27 / hour (typical assignments pay within this range; posted top rate: $27/hr)
  • Data type: Text (Python code and Chinese/English explanations)
  • Label tasks include: RLHF, evaluation rating, and text generation assessments
  • Eligible countries: China (CN), Hong Kong (HK), Singapore (SG), Taiwan (TW). This role is not open worldwide.

How it works — apply and get started

Create or use your OpenTrain profile to apply. Your profile will collect your annotation experience so you can build a lasting portfolio across projects.

After onboarding you will complete short qualification tests and review instructions for each assignment. Work is remote and task-based; you choose how much to accept based on your schedule.

  • Onboarding includes qualification tasks that test Python review and bilingual evaluation skills
  • Work schedules are flexible; exact hours depend on available tasks and your availability
  • Feedback and examples during onboarding help calibrate your ratings to project rubrics
