About AI Training and Scientific Evaluation

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Experts create examples, prompts, evaluations, and feedback that help modern models produce more accurate and useful results.

In this role, your chemistry knowledge will shape demanding evaluations that test whether frontier models can solve problems and write effective code in quantum and computational chemistry.

The Role

As a Chemistry Scientific AI Evaluation Expert, you will author executable scientific computing tasks, original prompts, and rigorous grading criteria. You will use research materials, datasets, open-source resources, or original scenarios to create problems that meaningfully challenge advanced AI models.

This is a remote, part-time contractor engagement lasting six weeks. The commitment is 20 or more hours per week, and the pay rate is $70 per hour.

  • Engagement type: Remote part-time contractor
  • Duration: Six weeks
  • Time commitment: 20 or more hours per week
  • Pay: $70 per hour
  • Language: English

What You'll Do

You will develop scientific evaluation content from credible research and technical sources, then calibrate each task against frontier models to ensure that released problems are genuinely challenging. You will also collaborate through GitHub pull requests and work with automated quality checks.

  • Source material from published papers, Kaggle datasets, open-source repositories, or original scenarios
  • Write original scientific prompts with a clear coding focus
  • Design executable problems in quantum and computational chemistry
  • Create grading criteria that define what constitutes a correct answer
  • Calibrate tasks against frontier AI models
  • Use GitHub pull requests and automated code quality checks

Requirements

This role requires advanced academic and technical expertise. You should be able to combine deep chemistry knowledge with scientific programming and modern software collaboration practices.

  • PhD in chemistry, physical chemistry, theoretical chemistry, computational chemistry, or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated expertise in both quantum chemistry and computational chemistry
  • Ability to design executable scientific computing problems and rigorous grading criteria
  • Working proficiency in Python, R, or another relevant scientific programming language
  • Practical experience with GitHub workflows, Docker, and automated code quality checks

Helpful Background

The following experience is helpful for developing authoritative, research-grounded evaluation tasks, though it is not listed as required.

  • Peer-reviewed journal publications
  • Scientific software development experience
  • Research engineering experience
