The Role

OpenTrain AI is recruiting a Chemistry Quality Assurance Lead to review AI-generated chemistry content and trainer QA work for correctness, clarity, safety, and adherence to project rubrics. You will provide precise written feedback, monitor quality across chemistry AI training projects, identify recurring issues, maintain documentation, support onboarding, and help keep contributor work aligned with expected standards.

The work covers chemistry explanations, calculations, reaction mechanisms, laboratory reasoning, nomenclature, and problem-solving steps, with particular attention to scientific accuracy and safe recommendations.

What You'll Do

• Review chemistry responses, calculations, reaction logic, and related trainer QA work against project guidelines and detailed rubrics.
• Identify scientific errors, missing units, flawed assumptions, unsafe recommendations, hallucinated facts, and incomplete explanations.
• Communicate quality updates and workflow changes to trainers and QAs through remote team channels.
• Maintain style guides, FAQs, trackers, examples, honeypots, calibration tasks, onboarding materials, and other project documentation.
• Support onboarding, training, and quality alignment across remote contributors.
• Flag recurring quality gaps and help improve chemistry QA workflows.

Requirements

You should bring strong chemistry knowledge and the ability to explain scientific issues clearly in written English. Experience may come from research, laboratory work, teaching, scientific writing, technical review, quality control, formulation, analytical chemistry, or related workflows.

Familiarity with AI training, data annotation, prompt or response evaluation, scientific content QA, or rubric-based large language model evaluation is required. You should also be organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with remote collaboration tools and documentation workflows.

• Strong background in chemistry, chemical sciences, biochemistry, materials chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, or a closely related field.
• Clear English communication skills for written scientific feedback and team collaboration.
• Strong grasp of general, organic, inorganic, physical, analytical, and biochemistry topics.
• Knowledge of stoichiometry, spectroscopy, kinetics, equilibrium, and reaction mechanisms.
• Experience with AI training, data annotation, prompt or response evaluation, scientific content QA, or rubric-based LLM evaluation.
• Strong organization and attention to detail.
