Contributors review, rate, correct, and improve model-generated content so AI systems can produce more accurate and reliable results. This work spans technical response evaluation, written feedback, rubric-based review, and specialized subject-matter quality assurance.

This role focuses on chemical engineering content, including technical explanations, process calculations, diagrams, and problem-solving workflows. The work is remote and part-time contractor work, with a minimum expectation of 20 hours per week.

The Role

OpenTrain is seeking an expert Chemical Engineering Quality Assurance Lead to review AI-generated chemical engineering content and trainer or QA submissions. You will assess technical accuracy, reasoning quality, calculation integrity, unit consistency, safety, standards awareness, clarity, formatting, and adherence to project rubrics.

You will also help maintain consistent chemical-engineering-specific review practices across remote contributors. The role includes quality oversight across mass and energy balances, reaction engineering, separation processes, process control, diagrams, and technical problem-solving workflows.

What You'll Do

You will combine chemical engineering expertise with careful editorial and quality judgment. Your feedback should help contributors understand both what needs correction and how to meet the applicable technical standards.

• Review engineering content and trainer or QA work for correctness and consistency
• Evaluate calculations, assumptions, units, and process logic against detailed project rubrics
• Flag unsafe, misleading, or overconfident engineering recommendations
• Provide precise written technical feedback
• Share guideline updates, standards, and workflow changes with trainers and QAs
• Maintain style guides, FAQs, trackers, examples, honeypots, and onboarding materials
• Support contributor onboarding and training calls
• Monitor recurring issues and propose improvements to quality workflows
• Help keep remote contributors aligned on chemical engineering review standards

Requirements

This position requires strong chemical engineering knowledge and the ability to communicate detailed technical judgments in clear English. You should be comfortable evaluating both the final answer and the reasoning, assumptions, calculations, and safety considerations behind it.

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
• Strong English communication skills for clear technical feedback
• At least 3 years of relevant chemical engineering, process, safety, review, or teaching experience
• Strong knowledge of mass and energy balances, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, mass transfer, reaction engineering, separation processes, process control, transport phenomena, and process design
• Experience evaluating technical work against detailed rubrics
• Familiarity with remote collaboration tools
• Preferably, familiarity with Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS, MATLAB, Python, CHEMCAD, COMSOL, PFDs, P&IDs, Excel modeling, or process safety documentation

Helpful Background

Experience in AI training is helpful but not required as a primary qualification. Background in structured review, technical communication, or remote contributor support can also be valuable for this quality leadership work.
