About AI Training And Code Evaluation

AI training is the human side of building modern artificial intelligence. Technical contributors review examples, assess model-generated outputs, and provide structured feedback so AI systems produce more accurate, safe, efficient, and useful results.

In this role, your C++ expertise will help evaluate code and technical explanations against detailed project rubrics. Your reviews will support consistent feedback and improve the quality of coding-focused AI training data.

  • Work directly with cutting-edge AI training projects
  • Apply professional software engineering judgment to model outputs
  • Contribute remotely with a flexible part-time workload

The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking an intermediate-level C++ Quality Assurance Lead to review AI-generated C++ code and trainer QA work. You will evaluate outputs for correctness, compile-time validity, runtime behavior, memory safety, performance, debugging accuracy, readability, maintainability, formatting, instruction-following, and rubric adherence.

This is an hourly remote contractor role for candidates in the United States. The expected workload is 20 or more hours per week, with an estimated project duration of 1 to 3 months. Compensation is $75 USD per hour.

  • Role: C++ Quality Assurance Lead
  • Work arrangement: Remote contractor
  • Location: United States
  • Language: English
  • Workload: Around 20 hours per week
  • Estimated duration: 1 to 3 months
  • Pay: $75 USD per hour

What You’ll Do

You will review coding-focused AI training materials and help maintain high standards across technical review workflows. Your feedback should be precise, actionable, and grounded in project guidelines.

The role also includes supporting scalable QA operations, documentation, onboarding, and calibration for remote technical teams.

  • Review AI-generated C++ code, debugging responses, algorithmic solutions, tests, explanations, and performance recommendations.
  • Spot-check work for correctness, safety, efficiency, and adherence to project rubrics.
  • Identify undefined behavior, memory leaks, dangling references, race conditions, inefficient algorithms, non-compilable code, hallucinated APIs, and incomplete explanations.
  • Provide clear feedback to contributors and escalate recurring or critical quality issues.
  • Help build scalable QA processes for C++ training projects and remote technical teams.
  • Support FAQs, trackers, onboarding materials, documentation, honeypots, calibration tasks, and other consistency resources.

Required Qualifications

You should bring strong professional C++ experience from development, systems programming, performance engineering, embedded software, backend engineering, code review, QA, or technical mentoring. You must be able to assess both the technical quality of code and the accuracy of explanations about it.

Clear English communication is required because the work involves written technical feedback, contributor coordination, and collaboration across remote teams.

  • Strong grasp of modern C++ standards, RAII, smart pointers, templates, STL containers and algorithms, move semantics, concurrency, exceptions, memory management, and build systems.
  • Ability to judge C++ code for correctness, safety, compile validity, performance, readability, and maintainability.
  • Ability to identify technical defects and inaccuracies in code, debugging, testing, and explanations.
  • Clear written English communication.
  • Comfort supporting remote teams, documentation, and QA workflows.
  • Experience with AI training, LLM evaluation, code QA, or rubric-based code review is a strong plus.

Helpful Technical Background

Experience with the tools and workflows below can help you evaluate submissions efficiently and contribute to project operations. These are helpful areas of background associated with the role.

  • CMake, GCC, Clang, or MSVC
  • GDB, LLDB, sanitizers, Valgrind, profiling, or static analysis tools
  • GoogleTest, Catch2, or Boost
  • GitHub and CI/CD workflows
  • Leading or supporting trainers, reviewers, engineers, coding mentors, or QA teams
  • Maintaining style guides, FAQs, onboarding materials, calibration tasks, honeypots, and documentation
