About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect skilled contributors with projects that shape how modern AI systems learn, offering flexible remote work, career growth, and direct impact on cutting-edge models.

About AI Training Work

AI training (data labeling/annotation) is the human side of building intelligent systems: people prepare high-quality examples, correct model outputs, and create datasets that teach models to code, write, translate, and reason. Many projects are fully remote, flexible, and accessible — contributors choose hours that fit their lives while working on practical technical tasks that directly influence model behavior.

The Role

We are seeking experienced C programmers to generate, refine, and debug C code for AI training datasets. This is a long-term project (6+ months) with a weekly commitment of 20–40 hours. Work remotely on a flexible schedule as a contract, part-time contributor.

Compensation is hourly at USD 8.85. After you submit a proposal you will receive a C coding assessment to validate technical fit before onboarding.

What You'll Do

Your primary responsibilities are creating and curating high-quality labeled C code examples and correcting AI-generated C code so models learn to produce reliable, efficient C programs.

  • Write short C programs and code snippets from prompts provided by the project.
  • Debug, fix, and optimize AI-generated C code to meet given specifications and coding standards.
  • Annotate code with explanations, expected outputs, and edge cases when requested.
  • Produce precise training records that clearly document inputs, outputs, and reasoning for each example.
  • Collaborate remotely with the project team, following guidelines and quality checks.

Requirements

Candidates must meet all listed requirements below. We will send a coding assessment after proposal submission to confirm technical skills.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience developing in C; proven ability to develop, troubleshoot, and optimize C code.
  • Ability to commit 20–40 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months.
  • Stable internet connection and reliable electricity to ensure consistent remote work.
  • Effective communication skills in English and ability to work well in a remote team.
  • Prior experience in AI data labeling or training is preferred but not required.
  • Note: candidates without 2+ years of C experience may receive a lower Proposal Qualification Score.

Who Should Apply

This role suits developers who enjoy hands-on C programming and want to contribute to training AI systems. It’s ideal for technically strong programmers who prefer flexible, remote, part-time contract work and who are interested in shaping how models generate and repair code.

How To Apply & Next Steps

To apply, submit a proposal describing your C experience and availability. After submission you will be sent a short C coding assessment; successful completion is required to move forward. If selected, you will join the project as a contractor and start contributing training examples and code corrections under the project’s labeling guidelines.

  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time.
  • Work location: Remote — worldwide.
  • Pay: USD 8.85 per hour.
