The Role
As Biomedical Engineering Quality Assurance Lead, you will review AI-generated biomedical engineering explanations, diagrams, problem-solving steps, and trainer QA submissions. You will assess accuracy, clarity, instruction-following, and adherence to detailed project rubrics.
You will also provide precise written feedback, identify recurring quality issues, support trainer and QA onboarding, maintain project documentation, and help keep quality expectations aligned as workflows evolve. This is a US-based, part-time contractor position paying $105 per hour.

What You'll Do
You will combine biomedical engineering judgment with structured quality review. The work requires careful attention to technical details and the ability to explain concerns clearly to trainers, reviewers, and QA contributors.
- Review AI-generated biomedical engineering explanations, diagrams, problem-solving steps, and trainer QA submissions for correctness and clarity.
- Evaluate work against detailed project rubrics, including calculations, units, safety, biomedical reasoning, and regulatory context.
- Communicate quality expectations, workflow changes, and project updates to trainers and QAs in a clear, structured manner.
- Document quality notes, style guidance, FAQs, examples, honeypots, calibration tasks, and onboarding materials.
- Flag recurring issues, improve workflows, and support activation of contributors who are not working consistently.
- Raise concerns when biomedical engineering recommendations could be unsafe, misleading, or overconfident.
Requirements
This intermediate-level role requires substantial biomedical engineering knowledge and professional experience reviewing or producing technical work. You should be comfortable evaluating detailed content against rubrics and identifying flaws in assumptions, calculations, units, standards references, and safety reasoning.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Medical Engineering, Biomechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering with a biomedical focus, Mechanical Engineering with a biomedical focus, or a closely related field.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in biomedical engineering, medical devices, biomechanics, biomaterials, bioinstrumentation, clinical engineering, R&D, regulatory documentation, technical review, engineering education, or related workflows.
- Strong English communication skills for precise technical feedback and remote team coordination.
- Ability to evaluate biomedical content against detailed rubrics and identify issues with assumptions, calculations, units, standards references, or safety reasoning.
- Biomedical engineering expertise across areas such as biomechanics, biomaterials, medical devices, bioinstrumentation, or related fields.
- Understanding of calculations, units, safety considerations, and regulatory context in biomedical work.
Helpful Background
Experience supporting remote teams and familiarity with AI training workflows will help you contribute effectively in this fast-moving environment.
- Experience supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, engineers, technical writers, or QAs.
- Experience with AI training, data annotation, large language models, prompt or response evaluation, technical content QA, biomedical content QA, or rubric-based LLM evaluation.
- Familiarity with MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW, SolidWorks, CAD or CAE tools, signal processing, medical device documentation, ISO or FDA-related documentation, or biomedical data analysis tools.
- Experience giving precise written feedback to trainers, reviewers, or QAs.
- Comfort using Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management systems.
- Strong structured remote collaboration skills.
