The role

As a Biology Quality Assurance Lead you will review AI-generated biology content and QA performed by trainers across remote projects. You will assess scientific accuracy, reasoning, terminology, experimental logic, safety awareness, clarity, formatting, instruction-following, and rubric adherence.

You will write precise feedback, maintain documentation (style guides, FAQs, honeypots), support onboarding and calibration, and help resolve recurring quality issues across distributed teams.

What you'll do

• Evaluate AI-generated explanations, mechanisms, genetics problems, diagrams, and stepwise solutions for correctness and clarity.
• Spot-check contributor work, identify recurring quality issues, and escalate critical biological or safety concerns.
• Communicate project updates, biology-specific standards, and rubric interpretations to trainers and QAs.
• Answer technical questions about experimental design, methods, safety, and biological claims.
• Create and maintain trackers, examples, honeypots, calibration tasks, onboarding materials, and project documentation.
• Flag unsafe, misleading, or overconfident recommendations related to lab procedures, biological samples, pathogens, genetic engineering, or biosafety.
• Support onboarding calls, activation follow-up, and process improvements to scale QA workflows.

Requirements

• Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, Neuroscience, Physiology, or a closely related field.
• 3+ years of professional experience in biology research, laboratory work, teaching, scientific writing, technical review, quality control, biotechnology, life sciences, or related workflows.
• Strong English communication skills for clear scientific feedback and team coordination.
• Deep working knowledge of core biology topics (cell & molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, immunology, physiology, anatomy, developmental biology, evolution, ecology, and experimental design).
• Ability to evaluate content against detailed rubrics and spot incorrect assumptions, flawed reasoning, inaccurate terminology, missing context, unsafe recommendations, hallucinated facts, or misleading claims.
• Location: Remote within the United States; this is a contracted, part-time role requiring 20+ hours per week.

Helpful background

• Familiarity with lab techniques and documentation such as microscopy, PCR/qPCR, sequencing, gel electrophoresis, cell culture, ELISA, or basic bioinformatics.
• Experience supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, researchers, technical writers, educators, or QAs.
• Comfort using tools like Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management systems.
• Experience with AI training, annotation, LLM evaluation, or rubric-based model response review is a strong plus.

Pay, schedule, and how to apply

This is a contract, part-time role based in the United States. Compensation is up to $75/hour and the role typically requires 20+ hours per week.
