About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help people discover projects, build a consistent portfolio across platforms, and grow a freelance career teaching AI how to understand language and speech.

This posting is for a contract project run by OpenTrain focused on high-quality Australian English speech and text data.

About AI training and language data work

AI training (sometimes called data labeling or annotation) is the human work behind modern AI: people prepare and correct the examples models learn from. Contributors annotate, transcribe, record, and review language so models reflect natural speech and real-world usage.

This kind of work is often 100% remote, flexible, and accessible—many projects require only language fluency, attention to detail, or domain knowledge rather than prior AI experience.

The role

You will improve English speech and text data for AI by correcting machine transcriptions, recording natural Australian English audio, and reviewing language quality. The role is part-time contractor work with a minimum expectation of 20+ hours per week.

Pay is hourly: $15–$25 USD per hour (PAY_PER_HOUR). This role is open to contributors worldwide who meet the language requirements; no prior AI experience is required.

What you'll do

  • Review and correct machine-generated English transcriptions for accuracy and natural Australian English usage.
  • Record yourself reading short transcribed passages in a clear, natural Australian English accent using standard laptop audio tools.
  • Evaluate audio and text for errors, inconsistencies, and clarity issues; submit corrections and quality feedback.
  • Share practical observations about pronunciation, phrasing, and regional expressions to improve guidelines.
  • Work independently in a quiet environment and meet weekly time expectations (20+ hours).

Requirements

  • Native-level Australian English in both written and spoken forms.
  • Strong command of Australian English phonetics, diction, and pronunciation.
  • Excellent vocal clarity and confident, natural delivery when recording audio.
  • Ability to spot and correct transcription errors quickly and accurately.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to linguistic quality.
  • Reliable independent work habits and a quiet, distraction-free recording space.

Helpful background (not required)

  • Experience with transcription, annotation, or other language-data projects.
  • Voice work experience such as voice acting, voiceover, call-center, or audio engineering.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with emphasis on clarity and accuracy.
