The Role
OpenTrain is seeking an Australian corporate and M&A lawyer to evaluate responses generated by large language models. You will compare legal answers against a consistent professional rubric, assess their quality, and explain your reasoning in concise written feedback.
This is remote contract work for contributors located in Australia. The initial commitment is approximately 10 hours, with strong potential for additional work. The listed weekly time requirement is 20+ hours per week.

What You'll Do
You will work independently while meeting defined quality standards and deadlines. Your evaluations should be consistent, well-reasoned, and grounded in your practical understanding of Australian law.
Run the same legal prompts through two large language model platforms
Compare model-generated answers side by side
Assess accuracy, relevance, and overall legal quality
Score each response using a standardized evaluation rubric
Write concise feedback explaining the basis for each evaluation
Review nuanced answers involving Australian corporate and commercial law
Requirements
You must be qualified to practise law in Australia and have strong command of Australian corporate and commercial law. The role requires careful legal analysis, precise writing, and the ability to apply detailed evaluation standards independently and consistently.
All work is covered by a confidentiality agreement.
Qualification to practise law in Australia
At least two years of primarily law-firm experience in corporate, M&A, or transactional practice
Three or more years of relevant experience preferred
Strong command of Australian corporate and commercial law
Native or fluent English
Precise written communication
Ability to compare nuanced legal answers
Ability to apply a standardized evaluation rubric independently and consistently
Helpful Background
Experience handling corporate transactions, commercial legal analysis, or other work requiring careful comparison of legal positions will help you identify subtle differences in AI-generated answers. Familiarity with structured review, written reasoning, and deadline-driven professional work is also relevant.
