About AI Training and Audio Data Work
AI training is the human work behind modern artificial intelligence. Contributors transcribe and review audio, evaluate model outputs, and prepare high-quality examples that help AI systems understand speech, conversation, and context.
This work is remote and flexible, making it possible to contribute from anywhere with an internet connection while working on cutting-edge AI systems.
The Role
OpenTrain AI is seeking an Audio Transcription and Diarization QA Specialist to perform final quality reviews of multi-channel recordings and human-verified annotations. You will support the evaluation of multilingual, multi-speaker AI systems by checking audio fidelity, transcription accuracy, speaker diarization, timestamps, metadata, and content safety.
The recordings feature realistic, unscripted group conversations, including overlaps, interruptions, false starts, fillers, backchannels, and other natural speech patterns that evaluation-grade datasets must preserve.
Role type: Part-time contractor
Experience level: Entry level
Time requirement: 20+ hours per week
Language requirement: Native US English proficiency
Location: Worldwide and remote
What You'll Do
You will assess both the technical quality of recordings and the accuracy of their associated annotations. Your reviews should apply rigorous quality, privacy, safety, and annotation standards while preserving spontaneous speech exactly as spoken.
Evaluate channel isolation, audio bleed, background noise, clipping, low gain, and other audio-fidelity issues.
Review human-validated transcriptions against strict accuracy and low word-error-rate targets.
Confirm that spontaneous speech is captured verbatim without smoothing or prescriptive grammar corrections.
Audit sessions for personally identifying information, toxic material, and sensitive content.
Assign pass/fail or agree/disagree outcomes based on annotation quality.
Provide clear, actionable feedback when work requires correction.
Required Skills
This role requires precise comprehension of complex, spontaneous, multi-speaker conversations and strong judgment when applying detailed review standards.
Native proficiency in US English.
A highly developed ear for channel bleed, clipping, low gain, disruptive background noise, and other subtle audio problems.
Experience applying verbatim transcription conventions to overlaps, interruptions, false starts, fillers, and backchannels.
Ability to validate speaker diarization, word-level and turn-level timestamps, and JSON metadata logic.
Strong judgment when identifying PII, toxic content, sensitive content, and annotation-quality issues.
Helpful Background
Experience in linguistics or phonetics can help you recognize natural, unnormalized speech and conversational dynamics. Language teaching experience may support careful attention to language detail and verbatim conventions.
Professional transcription experience may provide useful audio-fidelity judgment, rigorous timestamping habits, and familiarity with demanding accuracy targets.
