About AI training and data-labeling work

Quality assurance, rubric-based review, and trainer coaching are essential to keep model training data accurate, practical, and aligned with project standards.

The role

OpenTrain is hiring an Architecture and Design Quality Assurance Lead to review AI-generated architecture and design content and oversee trainer QA across architecture, interior design, urban design, and built-environment projects.

This is a remote, U.S.-based contractor role. You will monitor quality, align reviewers to rubrics, produce documentation and examples, and support onboarding and ongoing training for remote expert teams.

What you'll do

• Review architecture and design explanations, spatial layouts, material recommendations, building system descriptions, accessibility considerations, and design reasoning for accuracy and practicality.
• Spot-check completed work for quality issues, provide clear written feedback, and escalate recurring or critical problems.
• Communicate project updates, guideline changes, workflows, and quality expectations to trainers and QAs.
• Respond to questions about spatial logic, design terminology, accessibility, sustainability, construction feasibility, materials, and rubric interpretation.
• Create and maintain style guides, trackers, FAQs, quality notes, examples, honeypots, calibration tasks, and onboarding materials.
• Schedule and run onboarding and training calls and support quality alignment across remote expert teams.

Requirements

You must have advanced experience in architecture, interior design, urban design, or a closely related built-environment discipline and strong English communication skills for concise, actionable written feedback.

• Advanced experience in architecture, interior design, urban design, or a related built-environment field.
• Ability to evaluate AI-generated design work against detailed rubrics and provide clear written feedback on spatial logic, accessibility, sustainability, and code sensitivity.
• Background in design review, construction documentation, teaching, design QA, or rubric-based visual review.
• Familiarity with tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, BIM, or construction drawings.
• Comfort working remotely with Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management systems.
• English language fluency required; this role hires in the United States.

Helpful background

• Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Environmental Design, Industrial Design, Planning, or a related field.
• Experience leading or supporting remote teams of designers, reviewers, annotators, educators, or domain experts.
• Prior experience with AI training, data annotation, or LLM evaluation is a strong plus.
• Strong attention to detail and organized documentation habits.

Pay, schedule, and employment type

Pay is up to $75/hour. This is a contractor, part-time role with an expected time commitment of 20+ hours per week.

Work is remote, and hiring is limited to candidates located in the United States.
