OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization for this role. OpenTrain helps people build careers in AI training and data labeling, where human expertise guides how modern AI systems learn, communicate, and respond.
AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Experts review model responses, write evaluations, and provide structured feedback so AI systems can produce more accurate, clear, useful, and responsible results. This work is a practical way to apply subject-matter knowledge to cutting-edge technology.
OpenTrain is seeking an Anthropology Quality Assurance Lead to support anthropology AI training projects. You will review AI-generated anthropology explanations, ethnographic summaries, cultural comparisons, archaeology discussions, and human evolution content.
The role focuses on accuracy, sensitivity, theory application, methodological rigor, ethical awareness, terminology, clarity, formatting, and instruction-following. You will also review trainer and QA work, help maintain consistent standards, and communicate with remote expert teams.
This is an intermediate-level, part-time contractor position requiring 20+ hours per week. Compensation is $65 USD per hour.
You will apply anthropology expertise and project rubrics to assess content quality and help strengthen the work of trainers, reviewers, and other contributors. Your feedback will support accurate, culturally aware, and methodologically sound AI outputs.
You should have a strong background in anthropology, archaeology, cultural anthropology, or a closely related field, along with clear written English and confidence communicating with remote teams. Experience evaluating work against detailed rubrics and applying cultural sensitivity and methodological rigor is important for this role.
Prior experience in AI training, data annotation, LLM evaluation, or social science quality assurance is helpful but not required. Experience leading or supporting distributed expert teams can also help you succeed in the quality assurance lead function.
Anthropology expertise can help AI systems discuss cultures, communities, human history, and social practices with greater context and care. By identifying inaccurate, stereotypical, outdated, or poorly framed content, you will help shape more responsible model behavior while contributing directly to the development of modern AI.
Create a free OpenTrain account, build your professional profile, and apply in minutes. Include your anthropology background, relevant research or teaching experience, quality assurance strengths, and any experience with AI training or rubric-based evaluation.
