About AI Training Work

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. People with subject-matter expertise review model outputs, assess reasoning, and provide accurate feedback so AI systems can learn from high-quality examples.

In this project, your AMO physics knowledge will help evaluate technical answers and analysis involving atomic structure, optical properties, and spectroscopy.

The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking an AMO Physics AI Training Expert to support AI training work focused on atomic, molecular, and optical physics and the optical properties of materials. The role centers on applying expert scientific judgment to accurate reasoning, structured analysis, and clear technical feedback.

Prior AI training experience is not required. Strong subject-matter expertise in AMO physics or related optical-properties research is the primary qualification.

  • Role type: Part-time independent contractor
  • Work arrangement: Remote and worldwide
  • Time requirement: Less than 20 hours per week
  • Language: English
  • Pay: $80–$160 USD per hour

What You'll Do

You will review and discuss advanced physics content while helping assess whether AI-generated responses demonstrate sound scientific reasoning. Your work will require careful analysis and consistent communication aligned with detailed project guidelines.

  • Provide expert insights on atomic, molecular, and optical physics
  • Review and discuss ab initio configuration interaction methods for calculating atomic polarizability
  • Analyze atomic-structure calculations for Yb-171 and Yb-174 isotopes
  • Identify and explain sigma and pi transitions in relevant atomic spectra
  • Apply rigorous physical reasoning to technical questions and analyses
  • Communicate scientific findings clearly and consistently
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on AI-generated answers and reasoning

Requirements

This is an entry-level AI training opportunity in terms of prior experience with AI projects, but it requires advanced subject-matter expertise. Candidates should have an advanced physics degree or equivalent expertise, with a focus on AMO physics or optical properties of materials.

  • Advanced degree or equivalent expertise in physics, particularly AMO physics
  • Experience with ab initio configuration interaction calculations for atomic polarizability
  • Knowledge of atomic-structure computations for Yb-171 and Yb-174
  • Ability to distinguish and explain sigma and pi transitions in atomic spectra
  • Clear, structured written and verbal scientific communication
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to follow detailed project guidelines
  • English fluency
  • Ability to work independently as a remote contractor

Who Should Apply

Apply if you have the physics background to assess nuanced technical reasoning and can explain complex concepts with precision. This role may suit researchers, academics, advanced-degree holders, or other specialists with equivalent expertise in AMO physics and related computational methods.

You do not need previous AI training experience. What matters most is your ability to recognize accurate scientific reasoning, identify problems in technical analysis, and provide clear expert feedback.

  • AMO physics specialists
  • Experts in atomic polarizability and configuration interaction methods
  • Researchers familiar with ytterbium atomic-structure calculations
  • Physicists experienced in analyzing atomic spectra and optical transitions
  • Scientific professionals seeking flexible, remote AI training work
