The AI Robotics Data Trainer Role

OpenTrain is recruiting an entry-level AI Robotics Data Trainer for an on-site customer project in San Francisco. You will operate a handheld gripper device in a laboratory, performing repeated manipulation activities such as picking up objects, opening containers, and completing simple household actions across varied objects and environments.

The role combines precise physical execution with careful data-quality checks and issue reporting. Previous robotics or AI experience is not required.

What You'll Do

You will follow detailed written protocols exactly so that every task produces consistent, reliable robot-learning data. The work requires sustained concentration while completing repeated hands-on activities and resetting physical environments between attempts.

You will also inspect each submission, document observations, communicate problems promptly, and coordinate with project leads and other contributors to keep data collection procedures consistent.

• Operate a handheld gripper device across varied objects and environments
• Pick up objects, open containers, and complete simple household actions
• Follow detailed step-by-step protocols without deviation
• Reset physical environments between attempts
• Verify the quality of each submission
• Identify hardware malfunctions and compromised recordings
• Record observations and report issues clearly

Requirements

This role is suited to dependable people who can perform precise physical work while maintaining accuracy over extended periods. You should be comfortable learning basic hardware interfaces and communicating clear observations in writing and conversation.

Reliability, punctuality, and personal accountability are important. Previous robotics or AI experience is not required, and hands-on experience in warehouse work, operations, gaming, gig work, or student projects may be useful preparation.
