Why AI training matters

AI training (data labeling, annotation, and human feedback) is the human side of building modern AI. People prepare and review examples—transcribing, annotating, rating, and evaluating outputs—that directly shape how models behave.

This is accessible, flexible work: many projects let you choose hours and workload, and contributors work across a wide range of subject matter while helping state-of-the-art systems improve.

  • Cutting-edge, impactful work that influences real AI systems.
  • Flexible, remote-friendly roles that fit around other commitments.

The role — AI Content Evaluator

You will work as a contractor evaluating AI-generated text: scoring responses, annotating and classifying items, and documenting actionable feedback to improve model accuracy and reliability. The work focuses on careful judgment, critical reading, and clear written feedback.

This is a part-time contractor role requiring 20+ hours per week. Work is remote and worldwide; work language for this posting is English.

  • Data type: text. Label types: evaluation ratings and classification.
  • Employment: contractor, part-time. Typical commitment: 20+ hours/week.
  • Pay: hourly contractor rate between $20–$80 USD per hour.

What you’ll do

Your day-to-day will center on reviewing AI outputs and applying detailed rubrics to produce consistent, high-quality labels and feedback. You will also help refine guidelines and keep careful records of evaluations.

  • Evaluate and score AI-generated responses using detailed rubrics and metrics.
  • Annotate and categorize datasets to improve model accuracy and reliability.
  • Review content for relevance, coherence, and factual accuracy.
  • Provide actionable feedback on AI performance and maintain meticulous records.
  • Collaborate on guideline interpretation and rubric refinement.
  • Work across subject matter that can include business, finance, marketing, healthcare, legal, and research content.

Requirements

We require demonstrable evaluation experience, strong critical reading, and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional background. Prior experience in AI training, annotation, or quality assurance is preferred but not strictly required.

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Experience evaluating or scoring large volumes of content against detailed criteria.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in annotation and evaluation.
  • Critical reading and analytical ability for complex subject matter.
  • Clear written and verbal communication for nuanced, actionable feedback.
  • Prior AI training, machine learning annotation, or AI quality assurance experience preferred.

Who should apply

Apply if you enjoy careful, analytical review of text, can follow detailed rubrics, and want flexible remote work that contributes directly to how AI systems learn and improve.

Backgrounds in business, finance, law, healthcare, marketing, or research are helpful but not required—what matters most is your judgment, accuracy, and ability to communicate improvements clearly.

  • Intermediate-level annotators and evaluators with rubric-based experience.
  • People seeking reliable part-time contractor work (20+ hours/week).
  • Professionals who want to build a durable freelance career in AI training.

How it works — workflow and pay

As a contractor you will use annotation and evaluation tools to apply ratings and classifications to text examples, document feedback, and occasionally participate in guideline refinement. Expect structured tasks with clear rubrics and examples.

Compensation is paid hourly. The listed range is $20–$80 USD per hour; actual rates within that range will be specified per assignment. Work is remote and can be done worldwide in English.
