The Role
OpenTrain is seeking an Accounting Reconciliation AI Task Author to design expert financial tasks for training and evaluating advanced AI agents. You will convert realistic enterprise finance situations into rigorous, objectively scorable scenarios involving payment-to-invoice matching, billing versus recognized revenue, and margin report analysis.
The role combines accounting judgment, structured task design, numerical problem-solving, and quality review. Although classified as entry level, the work requires strong accounting or finance experience with multi-step reconciliation problems.

What You'll Do
You will prepare complete task environments, solve each task yourself, and refine the difficulty so scenarios are challenging but consistently gradable. You will also review AI-drafted materials and correct them when their prompts or rubrics do not meet the required standard.
- Author prompts based on realistic accounting reconciliation scenarios
- Write rubrics with exact numerical outcomes and required reasoning steps
- Prepare financial data, documents, and system states
- Solve tasks to verify calculations, reconciled balances, and rubrics
- Adjust data complexity, source-document ambiguity, and reasoning steps
- Review and correct AI-drafted prompts and rubrics when needed
Requirements and Helpful Background
You should have hands-on experience as an accountant, finance analyst, or in a closely related finance role. Strong numerical reasoning is essential, along with the ability to define precise, verifiable correctness criteria and explain variances.
Knowledge of revenue recognition principles, matching rules, and standard accounting workflows is required. Experience with IFRS or Irish GAAP is helpful. Background in multinational, pharmaceutical, technology, or enterprise B2B finance environments is welcome.
You should be comfortable working with financial documents, spreadsheets, accounting system outputs, and structured task guidelines. Familiarity with SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or another ERP or accounting platform is useful. ACA, ACCA, CPA Ireland, or an equivalent qualification is valued, as is experience in audit, financial controls, or revenue assurance.
