The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting for a contractor Academic Research and Document Review Specialist to support AI training projects through in-depth research, literature synthesis, and careful document review. You will produce client-ready deliverables and help convert complex source material into structured, high-quality inputs used to train and evaluate models.

This position is part-time, remote, and deadline-driven. You should be comfortable collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and working independently to meet project standards.

• Hours: 20+ hours/week (part-time contractor)
• Pay: USD $20–$55 per hour (PAY_PER_HOUR)

What You'll Do

• Conduct in-depth research and analysis within your area of expertise.
• Evaluate and synthesize academic literature, legal documents, or industry data into clear findings.
• Prepare, format, and review complex Word and PDF documents using tracked changes and form-filling.
• Extract data from documents and translate research into clear, client-ready reports and presentations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and maintain accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project guidelines.

Requirements

• Minimum 3+ years of relevant professional experience in academic research or related sectors.
• Master’s degree, PhD, or JD required.
• Strong document review skills in Word and PDF (tracked changes, form filling, formatting).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a remote, deadline-driven environment.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and producing high-quality, client-ready output.
