Why AI training and document work matters
Modern AI systems learn from examples people prepare and review. Document specialists help ensure training datasets, compliance records, and human feedback are accurate, well-structured, and secure — work that directly shapes how models behave.
This kind of work is often 100% remote, flexible, and accessible to professionals with strong domain knowledge and attention to detail.
The role
Micro1 is recruiting a Word and PDF Document Specialist to support AI training and document workflow projects. This contractor role focuses on high-quality Word and PDF work — review, editing, formatting, tracked changes, version control, dynamic forms, template work, extraction, and consolidation from complex files.
You will also support legal, regulatory, and compliance-driven workflows and help stakeholders use advanced Word and PDF functionality while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
What you'll do
- Review, edit, and format Word and PDF documents to industry and client-specific standards.
- Manage tracked changes, comments, and version control across large and complex files.
- Create, edit, and fill dynamic forms and templates, and set up secure form fields.
- Extract and consolidate data and metadata from Word and PDF documents for downstream use.
- Support document workflows for legal, regulatory, and compliance-driven projects.
- Train and assist stakeholders on advanced Word and PDF functionality and best practices.
Requirements
You must have strong hands-on experience with Word and PDF tools in professional settings and advanced proficiency in formatting, reviews, tracked changes, and markup.
This role requires excellent written and verbal communication, strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently in a remote, deadline-driven environment, and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Master’s, PhD, or JD in law, healthcare, academia, public policy, finance, or a related field (required).
- Experience supporting complex or regulated environments is preferred.
- Ability to work 20+ hours per week as a contractor and meet deadlines consistently.
Helpful backgrounds
- Legal professionals familiar with redlines, contracts, and compliance workflows.
- Healthcare administrators or policy professionals who manage regulated documents.
- Academic researchers accustomed to tracked changes, citations, and version control.
- Finance, real estate, or government operations staff with template and secure-document experience.
- Familiarity with advanced PDF features such as form fields, digital signatures, and secure handling.
Pay, schedule, and logistics
Hourly pay is $20–$55 USD per hour, paid to contractors. The role is remote and part-time with an expected minimum of 20 hours per week. The engagement is contractor-based; Micro1 is the hiring organization listed for this position.
