About AI Training Work

AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human side of building machine intelligence. Contributors prepare, review, and curate examples—like video, audio, or text—that models learn from, directly influencing how systems reason, generate, and behave.

This role focuses on video: your editing and evaluation work will become part of datasets used to train and benchmark models for storytelling, robotics, and instructional content.

The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting a Video Editor to work on AI training projects for OpenTrain. You will review, refine, and organize animations, visual effects, and instructional videos to create high-quality, structured media assets used for model training and evaluation.

This is a remote, part-time contractor position (20+ hours per week). Pay is hourly, with rates between $40 and $80 per hour depending on assignment and experience.

  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
  • Time commitment: 20+ hours/week
  • Pay: $40–$80 per hour (PAY_PER_HOUR)
  • Data type: Video; Labeling focus: evaluation/rating and data collection

What You'll Do

Perform hands-on video editing and post-production to prepare clips for model training and benchmarking. Ensure edits meet project objectives, quality standards, and factual accuracy where applicable.

Collaborate with remote teams to assess AI-generated content, apply stakeholder feedback, and iterate on outputs. Produce clear written and verbal notes to guide further model development and dataset curation.

  • Review, evaluate, and refine animations and visual effects for storytelling, robotics, and educational content
  • Organize, label, and maintain structured project files and media assets for efficient dataset creation
  • Assess AI-generated video content and implement feedback to meet quality and project goals
  • Develop rubrics and evaluation frameworks; curate media datasets to train and benchmark video-capable models
  • Identify edge cases, weaknesses, and opportunities to improve visual and narrative generation

Requirements

Candidates must meet the core qualifications below. We will verify experience and the ability to work effectively in remote, collaborative settings.

This role is listed at entry level but requires demonstrable, significant hands-on experience in video or visual media production.

  • Proven expertise in video editing and post-production, including audio editing and visual storytelling
  • Experience with animation and visual effects for digital or educational content
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Demonstrated ability to follow and implement constructive feedback
  • Bachelor’s degree (any field) is mandatory
  • Experience working effectively in remote, collaborative environments
  • Fluent English (written and spoken)

Helpful Background

The following are not required but will make your application stronger and help you contribute more quickly to projects.

Bring any domain knowledge you have to help improve dataset quality and model performance.

  • Prior work with robotics media, AI training data, or educational content creation
  • Experience developing media standards, rubrics, or evaluation frameworks
  • Awareness of recent advances in AI, video technologies, and digital storytelling

How It Works / Next Steps

Create an OpenTrain account (free) and submit your profile and application for this role. Include examples of your video editing work and any relevant projects that demonstrate animation or VFX experience.

Selected contributors will work as contractors on specific OpenTrain projects using OpenTrain’s project workflows and the labeling tools specified per assignment. Assignments will include clear instructions, rubrics, and channels for feedback.

  • Worldwide applicants accepted — fully remote role
  • Work will use a specified labeling tool (labeled as OTHER) and focus on evaluation/rating and data collection tasks
  • Payment and project terms are transparent and communicated before you start each assignment
