About this role
OpenTrain is recruiting for a part-time, remote AI Fellowship for licensed U.S. attorneys with deep SaaS contracting experience. In this role, contractors perform simulated contract negotiations and redlining exercises to generate high-quality training data and evaluation feedback for advanced AI models focused on contract review. No prior AI experience is required; your legal domain expertise is the core qualification.

What you will do
- Perform simulated contract negotiations and redlining exercises, evaluating AI-generated suggestions for accuracy, risk identification, and legal soundness
- Review and assess AI responses to contract scenarios, providing structured expert feedback to improve model performance and output precision
- Collaborate with a product and research team to refine training data, annotation guidelines, and best practices for AI-driven contract review
- Apply SaaS contracting expertise to real-world scenarios that directly shape how legal AI models learn and reason

Required skills
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Minimum of 3 years of in-house experience in technology transactions, with a focus on SaaS contract review, negotiation, and redlining
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Strong analytical ability and capacity to translate legal expertise into actionable AI training feedback
- Experience collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams

Helpful background
- Prior exposure to AI, legal tech, or data annotation initiatives
- Expertise in risk mitigation strategies within SaaS contracting
- Publication or presentation record on legal technology topics

Schedule and location
This is a fully remote, part-time fellowship with a flexible schedule. Fellows commit between 5 and 20 hours per week, and the fellowship runs for one month.
