About this role
OpenTrain is recruiting for a QGIS expert role focused on high-quality geospatial work that supports AI training. You will handle raw spatial data acquisition and cleaning, spatial analysis, map production, cartographic layout, and final deliverables, while documenting your workflow and reasoning in real time. The work also includes managing projections, coordinate systems, and spatial references, styling and symbolizing map layers, and troubleshooting GIS workflow issues as they arise.
What you will do
- Organize, clean, validate, and transform diverse spatial datasets
- Produce clear maps, layouts, and cartographic outputs in QGIS
- Explain design decisions, problem-solving steps, and workflow rationale
- Manage coordinate systems, projections, and spatial references for reliable output
- Deliver polished geospatial work with accuracy and consistency
Required skills
- Extensive hands-on experience with QGIS and independent GIS project delivery
- Strong understanding of spatial data formats, projections, and coordinate systems
- Clear written and verbal communication for technical documentation
- Experience troubleshooting complex GIS workflows
- Familiarity with other geospatial tools or programming languages is a plus
