About OpenTrain

OpenTrain AI is the centralized platform where people build careers training and labeling data for artificial intelligence. We connect skilled contributors with specialized AI-training work, help you consolidate your experience into a durable portfolio, and hire directly for contract roles that shape how models behave.

Why This AI-training Work Matters

AI systems learn from examples people create and judge. Your procurement expertise will teach models how an experienced procurement lead evaluates vendor intake, pricing, contracts, and cross-functional approvals—work that improves model safety, accuracy, and real-world usefulness.

This work is remote and flexible, ideal for experienced practitioners who want to contribute domain expertise on a part-time contract basis while earning competitive hourly pay.

The Role

OpenTrain AI is hiring a Procurement Workflow AI Training Expert to build realistic simulated procurement environments used for model evaluation and training. You will convert real procurement judgment into step-level rubrics, golden responses, and approval recommendations that reflect how a senior procurement lead would decide.

OpenTrain AI is the contracting organization for this role; you will work as a contractor on a part-time schedule (20+ hours/week).

What You'll Do

  • Review simulated vendor intake requests and renewal scenarios against reference data to ensure realistic facts and edge cases.
  • Compare price and contract terms through finance, legal, security, and IT lenses and consolidate findings into clear approval recommendations.
  • Write step-level rubrics and golden responses that capture procurement judgment, acceptance criteria, and rationale.
  • Audit simulated company environments for realism and internal consistency, catching contradictions before tasks go live.
  • Provide structured written feedback and edits for task content and evaluation guidelines.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in procurement, spend operations, or vendor management.
  • Hands-on experience handling vendor requests and renewals.
  • Ability to benchmark pricing and contract terms against reference data.
  • Comfort consolidating inputs from finance, legal, security, and IT stakeholders.
  • Strong written communication and structured feedback skills.
  • English fluency required.

Helpful Background

Experience authoring tasks, writing rubrics, or contributing to AI training datasets is strongly helpful but not required. Familiarity with spend-management or e-procurement platforms is a plus and will speed onboarding.

Logistics, Pay, and Tools

This is a contract, part-time role at 20+ hours per week. Pay is hourly: USD $70–$100/hr (typical starting rate $100/hr; final rate within range depends on experience and scope). Work is document-focused (reviewing and authoring procurement scenarios, rubrics, and model-evaluation artifacts) and performed remotely.

Labeling types for the tasks include evaluation rating and text generation. OpenTrain will provide task guidelines and the simulated environment materials; experience with specific annotation tools is helpful but not required.

Who Should Apply

Apply if you are a senior procurement or vendor-management professional who enjoys translating real-world judgment into clear written criteria and example answers. This role suits people who can distill cross-functional tradeoffs, write precise rubrics, and improve the realism of simulated procurement scenarios used to teach AI systems.
