About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the centralized platform where people launch and grow careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect skilled contributors with projects that need human expertise so you can build a unified AI-training portfolio, track work across clients, and grow a freelance career in this fast-growing field.

About AI training work

AI training (data labeling and human feedback) is the human side of building intelligent systems: experts provide examples, review model outputs, and rate responses so models learn to give accurate, safe, and useful advice. This work is largely remote, flexible, and accessible to professionals who want to apply domain knowledge (like private-wealth advice) to shape how state-of-the-art financial tools behave.

The role

We are recruiting an experienced Personal Financial Advisor with private-wealth expertise to provide real-world guidance and detailed feedback used to train advanced AI-assisted financial planning systems. You will produce and evaluate text-based guidance, review realistic client scenarios, and rate model outputs so AI can better support advisors and clients.

  • Work type: contractor, part-time
  • Location: remote — United States only
  • Time commitment: 20+ hours/week
  • Data & tasks: text generation and evaluation/rating of model responses

What you'll do

  • Deliver personalized, actionable financial guidance across budgeting, investment planning, retirement strategies, and debt management.
  • Review and assess realistic client scenarios to inform AI-assisted financial planning tools.
  • Write clear, structured feedback and explanations to improve AI responses for diverse client needs.
  • Translate complex financial concepts into simple, client-centric language suitable for model training.
  • Ensure guidance aligns with current regulatory compliance and private-wealth best practices.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert to ensure AI outputs reflect high-quality, industry-standard advice.

Requirements

You must meet all of the required qualifications below to be considered.

  • Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience in personal financial advisory or private wealth management advising individual clients.
  • Proven ability to build trust and rapport with high-net-worth or mass-affluent clients.
  • Deep knowledge of financial planning, investment management, and retirement planning (401(k), IRA, etc.).
  • Solid grasp of tax-aware strategies and regulatory frameworks relevant to personal finance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to translate complex advice into clear, actionable steps.
  • Exceptional judgment and decision-making capability in high-impact client scenarios.
  • CFP, CFA, or equivalent credential required.

Helpful background (nice to have)

  • Direct experience at leading financial institutions (for example Schwab, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Chase Private Banking).
  • Prior exposure to AI-assisted financial planning tools or processes.
  • Track record delivering advice that balances technical accuracy with client-focused clarity.

Compensation, logistics, and data tasks

This is a U.S.-based remote contractor role. Expected commitment is 20+ hours per week and compensation ranges from $80 to $110 per hour (typical rate up to $110/hr). Work is paid hourly and categorized as part-time contracting.

Tasks involve working with text data: generating model responses, providing detailed written feedback, and rating/evaluating outputs using provided interfaces (). English proficiency is required.

  • Payment type: hourly contractor
  • Hourly rate: $80–$110 (top rate $110/hr)
  • Languages: English required
  • Employment types: contractor, part-time
